Title: sit'n a little sideways..
Post by: TrickFlow347 on July 28, 2006, 02:46:03 PM
The cougar is a little crooked these days, It could be the springs but I want to check.
Okay, so I noticed the passengers side sits 1/2 inch or so lower than the drivers side..we put new springs in and seemed to help til we started the car up again and it went right back to sitting the way it was. My other half keeps saying that its the springs "breaking in" but I measured the wheel well and they are even. So, I measured the distance from the roll cage to the window, We only left like 1/8inch, and now I cant fit a piece of paper in there!  How can I tell for sure if it bent the unibody?
We have a 10 point roll cage and home made subframes, that we knew dont extend as far as they should. I also want to add that the car only sits on 3 jackstands, the drivers side front being the one up off the stand...if it is bent, is the only fix a body shop? Or should I leave it for caracter:hick:

Mine has a lean to the left rear.  It's the lowest point.  I think its just time for new rear shock and springs on both sides for me.

:giggle:  That post was entertaining!  The springs are definatly in the correct location, I made sure of that. Now the car sat lower on the pass side before I swiched springs BUT I did take off the driverside control arm so I could see if that is the problem....but my wheel well is the same on both sides.
Its the whole pass side of the car thats down tho...I even tried blowing the rear air bag up on that side for a fix and that didnt help.
I think its kinda funny, someone on the old ez-board about 3 years ago told me my car was going to twist its self into a pretsal<-(sp?)
I guess Ill see!

I'll bet its just because the power that is put down is pushing down alot harder on the passenger side. When a car launches, it jumps crooked and alot more power goes to one side.

Did you tighten the control arm in the air? ;)  maybe a bushing bind issue.
