Title: Son of a biscuit! These subframe connectors are kicking my ass
Post by: Red_LX on July 26, 2006, 10:32:49 PM
So 2 days ago I started on my subframe connector install, got the seat braces welded to the connectors and  the reinforcing tabs welded on, and my welder ran out of wire. So I picked up a new 1 lb spool before I left work yesterday. Today I started putting the connectors in, got all the welds done except the inside two on the back (on the subframe side facing the lers) and the welder ran out of wire AGAIN:toilet:

So, I guess my question is, will this thing be OK without those last two welds for a couple days? I won't be able to get at it again until Sunday most likely. I hope it'll be OK as I don't have any choice except to drive the car as is :dunno:

Second that Should be fine remember the car got by w/out them for ever you know better then me there your welds as long as there strong enough to stay there and you don’t do any road course racing so that the car flexes to the stress point to break them. Even still you should be fine with good welds on have them.

They're on there. Or you could make your own, the Thunderbird's connectors are just straight 1"x2" rectangle tubing with endcaps welded on.

That'll work if you're doing through the floor connectors...see the angles on Bob's SFC's?  You kinda need them if you don't want to hack/beat the  out of your floor pans.

Huh?

Mine were just straight stock and they welded in just fine...didn't hit anything. The ones in the pics with the "angles" are the ones for the Mustangs.

The SFC's I did for the Tbirds were straight and have always been straight.  The offsets were not needed.

Wow, if straight SFC's are working for everybody, then I must have a serious problem.  Disregard previous post.
