I was wondering why when I have my A/C on in my Turbo Coupe, it feels like it's going to stall when I'm in neutral at a stop sign/red light. The car idles at about 500-600 RPM's when I'm at a stop sign/red light with the A/C on, but without it on, it idles around 800-900 RPM. Is this a problem to be worried about or is it normal with the 4cyl motors? Also, my belts tend to squeel when I turn the A/C on, what could be the cause of this problem??!!? I can't physically get down into engine compartments like I once was to check the problems out myself due to my spinal disease, but I try to poke around a little bit! If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it a lot...
On the 4cyl cars I don't know if the Idel Air Control (IAC motor) is supposed to raise the idel when the a/c is on or if there is an Idel solinoid to raise the idel on those cars.
If the IAC is supposed to you could have it cleaned and see if that helps.

I sounds like the IAC needs to be cleaned. The IAC gettting dirty is common in the 2.3t. Also is there any way you might have an vac leak. I had a busted intercooler hose and I had an idle like yours.
Sounds like IAC alright. My TC idles at about 900-1000 rpm with the a/c on in neutral.
Sounds like your belt needs tightening.
Why are you in neutral at a stop sign?
I don't normally, unless my A/C is on, and I don't use it unless it's like 95 degrees or above outside. I usually put it in neutral when my A/C is on to keep the RPM's up a little bit so it doesn't stall.
What do you guys suggest to use to clean this IAC out? Compressed air or? I'm a newb...
Spray it out with carb cleaner or if you have time let it sit for a while then use the rest of the can to spray it out.

Does anyone know where to find the IAC on the '85 TCs? My Stepdad hasn't worked on a TC in about 5-6 years and he forgets where they're at. I'm also not sure where it's found, so any help would be very much appreciated. Maybe if someone has a photo where you can see the IAC, that'll help out a lot.
Don't have a pic right now but it is right on the throttle body. The rear side facing the firewall. Looks like a small can the steps down in size and goes to a 2 wire plug on the end sometimes its is 90* somtimes it is stright. It has to bolts holding it on and the is sorta stop sign shaped. The 3 wire throttle postions sensor is between the IAC and the throttle body. Very simple somtimes you can get away with the same old gasket. very cheap for a new gasket and they work on almost all ford cars. So most places have many of them in stock.
Not on a t/c, but on my sister 2.3 tempo its right on the throttle body, and not far from the tps.
Found the IAC. After I did my tune-up (plugs/wires/cap/rotor/pcv valve) the idling problem when the A/C is on, was fixed. This was corrected before the IAC was cleaned, but I ended up cleaning it anyhow. There is a new problem, however. The 2 pr0ng wire that comes off of the IAC is coming out of it's connector. Now my Stepdad said he could fix it by reinserting the wires, but is it easier to buy a new 1 if they're available?!
Either way would work. The new plug would just look a little better. I bet almost any parts store could get you that plug.
