Post by: 87fordboy on July 17, 2006, 12:24:53 AM
ok how hard would it be to throw a boss 302 into a 1983 T-Bird? i mean i know i gotta rebuild it and everything but im lookin to sleep this thing. Blown Boss 302 bored .40 over with high lifts oh yea. the engine will be from a 70's mustang.

Are you even able to get that engine?  They're highly sought after and quite rare.  The only thing I can tell you is that parts for 'em are really expensive.  Physically, I think the engine should fit in fine, with some modification to the motor mounts.  Not sure if you'll have to modify anything to make the tranny fit.

Here (http://"http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Boss-302-Mustang-Cougar-Factory-Intake-Manifold_W0QQitemZ150007100594QQihZ005QQcategoryZ34198QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem")is an example of what I mean.

Without pictures of you and todays newspaper with this Boss 302, I ain't believing it(but then you have supposidly have this Crown Vic with a HO that Ford never built)...

REAL Boss 302s have huge valves and 351 Cleveland type heads, low end torque sucks and thats with a four speed and 3.91 gears(I have two freinds with them). In a Bird with a automatic, 3.8s would outrun you to 40 mph... They are super engines but the operating range is 3500-7500+ RPM

BOSS 302 Mustangs were made in 1969 and 1970. If you have an engine from a "70's mustang" it's not a BOSS 302 but just a regular 302.

My dad sold his 69 BOSS 302 when we moved up here. He kept the motor to one day make a boss close. For the record I know the Vic' doesn't have a HO but it has HO parts from the last owner. If you want i'll take a picture of me sitting on the BOSS and a picture of the block casting. PS. I'm tired and ranting, I'm sorry

He sold the car to get the money to get me and my famil up here. One day he wants to either resotre a Boss and put it in or to Make a Boss. I'll get the pictures soon. I just don/'t see what the big deal about this is. Belive me if you want or don't.

Post by: CougarCoupe88 on July 19, 2006, 05:51:42 PM
wouldnt you get More money from a boss with and original engine rather than a boss shell?????

by the way. i like the cleavlad story and how they were the best for their time and how they are still desired engines and the boss stuff as well. but really not worth it to build it. intake headers all will cost you an arm and a leg. pluse like sid b4 the rpm range isnt desired for street.

you could however use a roller block find some aussie clevland heads and build a nice clevor. many of many are running them with ease. in fox cars.

but both would probably end up more expencive than and aluminim head swap on an ho. with a nice cam. ....or a alluminum head stroker 331/347

what ever though your time your money your car. your dreams  would be cool to see a clevland/boss in a cougar.

Yeah, no offense, but I'm not betting my car on it...that and the fact that a 15.7 second quarter mile run would not net a trap speed of 97 or 99mph...that's more like a 13 sec run...with an SO motor that just has "HO parts" on it...impossible...run a 4.5 60' time?  Sorry dude, just seems like a lot of far-fetched stories so far.
Title: Boss Project
Post by: V8Demon on July 19, 2006, 07:02:22 PM
I've run high and mid 13's on my old setup and 0-60 was a hair over 5 seconds.....not 4.5.  That would put you in 12 second land with trap speeds around 108 or so.

By the way.....I call BS on what you supposedly found in the car as well.  Most people may not know, but that be a pellet gun.  Not the real thing.  Oh, and don't carry that around with you because some people have the real thing.

ohhh :bs: .....dude...that guitar ya have...it's a Squier, not a Fender...although they are about the same in regards to construction, etc..
and yes..i have one too....biggest piece of shiznit that i ever played...
:flame:

far as a Boss 302 engine goes...if it's good, sell it, and buy a TC with the money...
if y'all really pulled it out of a numbers-matching Boss 'Stang...you should be ashamed....God knows i am...:flip:

Airsoft actually. And thats I was told I ran. I made a quick pass on my way out the door. Didnt grab the slip. My freind told me thats what I ran. Maybe you would get more money for the whole boss but I still respect what my dad did. P.S. I didn't pull the morot my dad did. I was only abuot 11 at the time. I have a Fender Squire and I also have TRUE fender Stratacaster. I would realy like it if everyone got off my case about what you all think I have or don't have. I know the truth and I know what I have. I also have a Les Pual custom guitar. Want pictures with today news paper?

we never said you said you pulled it. but what most agree on is that a real BOSS with the original engine would fetch a hell of a lot more than a REAL BOSS without an engine.

Well, it's just something that I do is I always go onto defence if someone doesn't belive me. I'm still treated like I'm a kid when i go to the boneyard or to nappa or what ever. Perks of being 17 I guess???  Sorry if i was dick-ish to anyone.

The pic i would be way more interested in seeing with todays paper is that boss! And who runs there car down a track not to see the timeslip isn't the point...knowing what you ran and having the slip to prove it /show off? Dude if this was all in fact true i would be going way out of my way to shutting some pie holes and saying... so there arseholes. You cant get upset a people wanting the truth especially when it seems a little:whatever: :screwy: Would be cool if the Boss was actually a fact but.... if not you could come clean and save some face before it gets worse.

Well you seemed to get that other picture in timely fashion...why can you not just prove it. Get a pic of the motor with a few different angles and hell if you dont have "time" to get todays paper set a penny on the air cleaner heads up...everyones got a penny handy! All you seem to be doing is digging a deeper hole man...fess up! I know i will have a bit more respect for you if you do. One reason i enjoy this site so much is the lack of BS,name calling, and all the other  that i have found on many other forums/sites so lets keep it real dude.:D

Fine, if it will make everyone get off my case, fine, I admit there's no Boss here. I know ware there's one but it's not MINE persay. I swear to god my had a Boss and he told me when we moved he pulled the engine. And to this day at my uncles there is a ford motor on the floor with a Boss air cleaner. Is it a Boss, not sure. The only reason I opened my mouth is cuz I thought it would be cool to say that there is one. There is also a 455 Pontiac on the engine stand and an AOD there. I'm going on what i've been told. Now I admit that I'm not the most reptuable person but I'm doing what 4mykid said and telling it as it is, not how I want it to be....

Now that the original poster's thread has been completely and hopelessly hijacked by a bunch of bullshiznit..

To the original poster: I realize I may not be the most knowledgeable car guy here by a long shot.. but as I see it, it's kind of a waste to put an engine like that in cars like these unless you intend to go all the way with it.. make it a truly spectacular show-quality one-of-a-kind.. like that Fairmont we saw awhile back that had a 427 cammer in it. If not, you could consider making your own "Clevor" (289/302/351W block with Cleveland heads) and using that instead for a relatively cheap knockoff. I say leave the real Boss engines for the Boss cars they came from. Here's a link to get you started reading up on it:

http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/30220/

Having said that, I think this thread needs locking.

One reason I enjoy this site so much is that I'm an admin and can lock childish threads like this  before they get too stupid. Come on, people, who cares whether he's got a Boss or not.  I don't have one, you don't have one, and whether he has one or not does not affect any of us.

Move along folks, nothing to see here...:locked:
