Post by: Innes on July 08, 2006, 07:48:22 AM
Trying to order a set of rims for my brothers 66 mustang. Summit did not know the bolt pattern they told me to measure it. I got 4 ½ inches is that correct. O-yea it’s a 4 bolt.

I tell ya” I have a nice set (4) of 14" aluminum stock rims off an 88 tbird w/Michelin tires on. I was hoping they would fit but there about ½ inch to small.i think ill be selling them soon

CougarSE actually your wrong I assumed that to like I said I tried putting on stock aluminum 14” rims from a tbird the hub w/I thought would give me trouble looked good, the bolt pattern is smaller on fox’s.
And MasterBlaster thank you for that information. I just wanted to double check before I order.

Sleeper is correct... And to take it one step further, the '69 Mustangs with 200 6cyl got 4 lug... The 250 6cyl got 5 lug, as did all V8s... Not sure but I believe the 200 may have been dropped for '70, I know it was for '71, making those all five lug...

They say its necessary when converting to a v8 those years you must convert to 5-lug. Is that necessary? Cause I say no other than the car will look better.

The four lug brakes(front and rear) and rearend on the early Stangs is minuscule compared to the five lug stuff(the difference in rears is like comparing a 7.5" to the 9")... While not absoultely necessary, it's a Hell of a good idea...

Oh. Thankyou for the explanation that makes sense. I just assumed it was all about 4 lugs and knowing how the fox-stangs were just fine figured it wood be fine, not thinking of breaking.
