i can get a 65mm throttle body from a cobra for 25 and a set or E7 heads for 30. what is the differance in the heads i have now and the E7 or is there?
is it a good deal or not?
Very simply put. E7's flow better.
worth 30 bucks? and what has to be done to make them work?
To make 'em work... you replace your heads with them.
Yep. Should just fit in the stock location. I would guess 10 to 15hp.
Worth every penny of $30, They go for about $100 around here.
that is a 65mm mass air meter from a cobra calibrated for stock injecter for 25 thats a good deal isnt it?
hes got a set of of trick flow valve springs thet says never used for 50, good or not i dont know that is why im asking you guys, the E7s with new springs for 80 buck before i try and talk him down.
$80 for E7's with new springs is a good deal. I paid $50 for a clean set of stock E7's.
So is this a mass air meter or throttle body for $25?
A cobra throttle body would work fine however it won't give you any gains unless you have a matching intake manifold or port match your current manifold.
A mass air meter will be useless to you unless you convert your car to a full HO and do a mass air conversion.
Whichever heads you get, have them checked so you know they are good before you attempt to install them.
i would like to convert to mass air but i dont know what im doing right now. it is a mass. and it is a mass air meter. i think im going to get the heads and springs.
what other head choices do i have that i could pick up cheap?
That's it for head choices. If you want any other kind of heads that are an improvement you'll almost have to go aftermarket, at least $500 a pair.
Or, if you want, you could get the GT-40P heads found on explorers, but those will run you a lot more than $80, too.
I've never heard of a 65 MM mass air meter. I can almost guarantee it's a throttle body. What year cobra is this throttle body from?
dont know it was a craiglist sale so very little detail. i dont know if i will be able to afford the heads and spring. i need new tires and an alinment when i get home so bank is broke for now. i might just get the heads and no spring.
what would i have to do for gt-40 and what year explorer would i find them on? how do i tell if the are gt-40s or not? i though i read something about gt-40s having problems on install?
To identify GT-40P heads while installed, look to the lower right of the cyl. #1 spark plug..near a headbolt...it will have the letters "GTP" cast in head....casting numbers are F77E and also F76E I believe...but that will be on the bottom side of the heads near the pushrod holes. I believe they came on '96 or '97 up explorers with the 5.0. You WILL need "P" specific headers...FRPP makes some but they can be pricey...Mac Full-Length headers work well too.
got an auto so full lenghts are out for now till i do a t-5 swap.
he has some Tokico lowering springs also. does anyone know if they will fit off hand. im going to try and find out in old threads.
