Post by: al green on July 01, 2006, 10:36:07 PM
I was at the car retirement center(junk yard) and was under a 89 towncar and noticed that the trans has a drain plug on it.It has a AOD and a 5.0.It looks like an easy swap. This would be a great on my bird.I would change the fluid more often.

I'm pretty sure the Lincolns got a longer transmission than our T-birds and Cougars.  Someone else can verify this, I think.

Go to an auto parts store and buy a drain plug for like $2 and install it in your existing pan, probabally easier and you probabally need to change the gasket/filter anyway :p

To answer the question, yes all AOD pans use the same bolt pattern should work no problem...
