Title: Nice cop...
Post by: Sick88Tbird on June 30, 2006, 07:38:07 PM
Well I was on my way to work today...running a little late...doing 70+ mph...and a cop comes down the road the opposite direction...if I hammered on the brakes, he'd know I was speeding and get me...I was hoping his radar wasn't on(6:45am)....so I lay off the gas, get in the right lane and cruise at a cool 55mph....he swings around, follows me for a bit then lights'em up.  I was like F*CK!!!  He comes up to the window asks me for my papers, then says, do you know why I pulled you over?  I felt like saying, "duh, I was hauling ass", but instead simply said no. He said he clocked me doing 72mph...in a 50 zone nonetheless.

After about 15 minutes he comes back up to my car and says, "I cut you a break on the speeding ticket," so I figure he knocked it down to 15-19mph over instead of 20-24 over, he continues on, "I just wrote you a seatbelt ticket, no points, no court appearances...it's only 54 bucks and our munil building is right across the street".  I had a huge grin and said, "thank you officer, I appreciate it, I'll be more careful from no on".

So instead of a $200 ticket + court costs, points, and a required court appearance, I have a $54 ticket, no court costs, no points.  WOO-HOO!

Dude, you got lucky with that, but why'd you lie to him ? I know a couple of cops, and I think that they'd get pissed, hell even I would get pissed if you told me you didn't know why I stopped you after you'd been doing 20 over the limit.

You can pretty much tell if someone is hauling ass even if they're coming the opposite way, and I think you'd have been even better off just telling him that you're late for work - most of the time the guy/gal will appreciate you telling the truth and not trying some bullshiznit story.

I got pulled over tonight for 42 in a 25.  The cop was questioning the shiznit outta me.  Asked if I was living out of my car because it was a bit messy from last week's trip, asked where I was going "Why?  What's the address?"  Ran my license like 3 times, and it finally came back right. The first two times it came back as Hilliard, OH, expired & suspended.  Sheesh.  Then he asks to see my insurance card and he's looking all around the car, checking the VIN and all that.  It's the most I've been interrogated ever.  I got off with no ticket, though, so it's all good.  Just an odd experience.

A Cop sat downtown with my friends and I and bullshiznitted with us for a good hour. I showed him pics from a carshow we had a week or so ago, and of the concert I went too. Then some pics of the Cougar, WHICH I GOT OUT TODAY. I told him to stay away, because I have to update tags to drive it.

i just got nailed for doing 38 in a 25, it was 5:40 am and I was just tired and not paying attention, and in a city I don't live in (was at a confrence), the cop asked me after looking at my license, "so where you stay?" I was like *my address*, and he then said looking very confused "what are you doing down here?" sleepily I replied, "staying at a friends for a confrence" and was like "oh... um, i'll be right back"

only got 5 over, I do know that street pretty well cause I stay with my friend a few times a week, but normally am not out that eary and never speed, lots of joggers with dogs and kids and stuff. but i'll take 5 over instead of 13 over anyday.

How long did he follow you? When you slowed down to 55 was the speed limit 50?

Just wondering. My experience thus far has been when I fly by them and they come after me and follow me, if I do the limit or just below the limit, they don't pull me over.

I just throw on my pizza delivery sign and I am able to do about 10+ over, that and I know every cop in the GF area. So I have the best of the best.

Oh and the sheriffs department, and my uncle was head of the Highway patrol.

Makes illegal stuff easy. lol

lol I actually like the "just hammer it" part got me out of a 150 in a 100 a couple months ago. I crested a bit of a rise in the highway and just as I got to a top a cop car was going the other way, I saw his signals pop on and he stopped to do a u-turn (there were cars behind me he had to wait for) I just kept it floored (car tops out at 165 so I wasnt going to get going any faster) took the next right, down the road, accross a small field and parked behind my buddies dads shop for about an hour.

I sat there and listened to the cop going down the highway with the siren on, then he circled the backroads a couple times before giving up, needless to say I kept to the speed limit the rest of the way out and rarely go more than 10 over on that stretch of the highway.

Before anyone starts ranting its a long straight stretch of highway (probabally 6-7km or more) And I lived out that way for 10 of the past 14 years and travel that road regularily, that was the only close call i've ever had on that part of the highway.

A buddy of mine got out of a speeding ticket the same way you did.  The cop pulled him over for doing 80 on a highway, and simply gave him a seatbelt ticket.  From what I understand, in some states police get a small bonus for each seatbelt ticket they write.  So rather than writing you a ticket for speeding, possibly having to show up in court, and getting only extra work out of the deal, they will simply cut you a break with a seatbelt ticket.

I've been pulled over twice, the first time for 60 in a 45 and second was 40 in a 25.  The first time I got away with only a $40 fine for no registration and a warning for 45+ in a 45.  The second time I was only given a verbal warning.  I've found out that if you just give straight answers and are courteous, cops will usually cut you a break.

I slowed to 55 as soon as I saw him hit his brakes(I coasted down) and was in a 50 zone, yes...but most people drive 60-65 on that stretch of road... and people started passing me anyway.

As far as lying...it's called "playing dumb" and it's worked for me many times...

Nate, if you want cops to stop beatin' on ya so much, GET A HAIR CUT...lol, j/k.

TC50- I have out manuevered the po-po 3 times in my younger dumber years(read 2yrs ago).  I was driving a borrowed 240sx 5-speed at night...doing about 90 in a 50.  Killed the lights, used the brakes minimally, did a lot of downshifting and e-braking to slow down when necessary...a lot of doubling back down little side streets right off the main road.  Not quite T-Bird behavior.

I got pulled over recently for doing 52 in a 45. They ticketed me for no change of address(I moved about a year ago) and told me it would be more then $50. I would have been more happy if they didnt ticket me. Oh well. I was going about 65 before the cop pulled his radar out.

Got ticketed for no address change last summer $110 cdn... I had moved a month earlier and just got my address info changed quickly... Still waiting for the court date on that one.

A few weeks ago me and a few freinds were "testing the acceleration of out cars side by side" down the street on in front of Chads farm. I had the Vix' Chad had the Camaro ( 92) and joey had the Monte' ( 02 ss). A local cop came by, told us not to do it, then made 2 or 3 passes with us. It's good to live in a small town and have one your your freinds brothers be the cop on scene....

HA!!! It must be a man thing...I've never gotten a ticket for speeding. I was pulled over once, when I was 19.  We were going from NY to PA, had a bunch of alcohol in the back seat. It was myself, my ex husband, and his cousin, who was of age, but was higher than a kite!
I had to ask if I could get out of the car to look under the seat for my licence, which the cop let me do.
He saw I was 19 and asked if I'd been drinking, which I hadn't. I explained I was 3 months pregnant, so no, I wasn't drinking.
He let me go with a warning.....oh and we had no seatbelts on at the time.

I've never been stopped since.

I've been pulled over for speeding 4 times in my driving career.. all of them for doing 35 - 40 Km/h over the limit.. 2 of them were marked down to 15 over, so $54 no points.. and 2 of them were turned into cautions.. so free and no points. I've got a horseshoe up my ass.

You MUST have a horseshoe up your ass...lol...15 over here is like a $150 ticket.  Our 1-4mph over is about as much as your 15kmh over.  Oh yeah, there is also this thing in Jersey where they like to write up "Reckless Driving" tickets for everything...forgot to signal? reckless driving...no seat belt? reckless driving...tail light out? reckless driving...the bitch about a reckless driving ticket here is that it's like $220+ court costs AND you have to cut the state a $250 check.

It's all a bunch of B/S...we have some corrupt politicians here in Jersey...more corrupt than most...all this B/S money they charge...plus the 10%(or something like that) of the Casino's profit(which Atlantic City is a huge money maker) and some friggin how...we're like 5 gazillion dollars in debt and all "non-essential" state funded or even state REGULATED operations(read Casino's) were shut down this morning at 8am.  No dept. of motor vehicles, no state inspections, no casino's, no child services...it's rediculous.

The governor is in a weakened state...NJ is in a state of unrest...TIME FOR A COUP DE' ETAT!....or something like that *shrugs*

Try 77 in a 45 mph zone:D  Happened about 5 yrs ago in my GN. I told the grinning cop that had he been about another block or two down the road he would have clocked me somewhere around 100 plus. He asked why and I just said "no reason, just wanted to get on it, thats all" Cost me about 350 bucks plus 90 days of deferred adjudication(like probation) Guess the luck runs out sooner or later:flame:

The best pulled over story and got away with it story I've got is when I was 17 and got pulled over for speeding. My buddy and I were raciing to the house. The cop said he didn't have radar on us so he wasn't going to give us a ticket but if he ever caught me out doing it again he would ticket me double. I did out run him and the only way he found me is he followed my buddy to my house. I was driving my 63 chevy pick and he was driving his chevette. The truck had a 383 in it and a muncie 4spd. The speedo was peged out at 120mph.

Any how I personally think that the way people are fined for there tickets should change. If I get a speeding ticket and have to pay $200 it is more of a punishment for me than someone that has more money. Where if it was set as a percentage of your income if would be more equal punishment for all. That way if you had to pay 5% of your income for speeding is would just as much of a financial burnden on you as some one that makes more or has more money.

Man, Ohio still has the death penalty for speeding!  Ohio State patrol has no sense of humor at all. (Must be the buzz haircut)
And before I start gettin compaints from online officers, I must confess my wife is cop and I complain to her about it all the time.

i have only had one ticket. i was going 91 in a 65 in my moms 84 bronco on labor day weekend through an area where there is always a cop and swerving through traffic to go that fast. I DESERVED THAT ONE i have been pulled over other times but it was always for stupid stuff (there are some cops around here that always seem to harass me) but no other tickets. one of the cops that likes to harass me almost arested me one night for something my friends did and i wasnt even there.
