Title: Removing seat belts
Post by: Thunder Chicken on June 29, 2006, 10:33:19 PM
I'm finally stripping that parts TC and have the entire interior out of it except the steering column, dash (I'm not gonna bother removing it as it's cracked to hell) and the front steat belt retractors. The next time I go to the car the colmn will be coming out, but the seat belt retractor thingies have me baffled. How in the hell do I get those little buttons that are on the dogleg out without breaking them??? Normally I'd just throw a tantrum and haul 'em out of there regardless of breakage, but all of the seat belts in this car are mint, so when I swap the interior into my '88 I'll be using 'em. Anyone have any ideas? :hick:

there is a ring around the button, gently pry it off and you will see how they come out :)

the retractor is held in by the same bolts the seatbelts are in with, and the button ring around it pops off, then you twist the button like 90* and pull it out

And the little plastic rings like to break the tabs off, too..
good thing I had 4 to start with, cause i broke one off of each car when i did my swap..
