Title: BF Goodrich Radial T/A
Post by: Carl on June 29, 2006, 12:24:41 PM
Who needs spoogehos anyway?

These are the tires I am getting in a few days. They will go with the turbines that are going on my Cat. Winning combination? I think YES!

Has anyone had any experience with them?

I have! I had those on my car. They look no less than awesome with the turbines. However be careful in the rain and take special care when they wear down.

They are fine on dry ground but past that, they are a little funny. Starting from a stop, they may easily spin if the road is wet so just keep that in mind. Mine wore down in a little over a year, partially due to a really rough winter. I wouldn't recommend driving with those in snow.

I'm running with Traction T/A's now and the difference is like night and day. But I did have to give up the cool look of the white lettering.

Thanks for the advice! Right now I am stationed in Georgia, so snow is the least of my worries! :giggle:

yep i had them. still do. they smoke up good also. they are a good cheap tire  and hold the road ok. but like said b4 in the rain a little funny. just meke sure that they are filled to the prople air psi and you will be fine. and yes when they get worn out get ready for the slip and slide action  oh yeah westleys bleach white is a must to keep the letters white.  good luck. youll be happy.

IMO, They are a good everything tire but it's dependent on the driver style. There are better and worse one's out there but these just seem right to me.

Thinking about

P215/70R15

or

P225/70R15

what do you think I should go with?

I had 225/60 15 on front 235/60 15 on back.
The rears were a bit wider and slightly taller than the front.

Keep in mind the standard size tire for the turbine is 225/60 15.
When you go up to a 70, the tire will be taller but not wider.
If you want wider, adjust the first number which is the width in mm.

Also increasing the diameter can throw off your speedo.

I ran 215/70/15's in the front of my 86 and 235/70/`15's on the rear for the big and little look without a chance of  rub

So is 225/60 15 on front 235/60 15 on back the setup you recommend?

Not really; I don't recommend anything. I was just giving you a setup I had for reference. It worked out fine and wasn't overkill IMO.
Its your preferance and all depends on what you are looking for.

Now I have 225/60 15 all the way around. Its nice to be able to rotate my tires. :hick:

So what are you looking for?
Narrow up front, wide in back staying approximately with the stock height?
Narrow and short up front, wide and tall in back?
Widest you can fit on the rim?
Bigger on the back without sacrificing too much handling?

Don't know how much help I can be on good combos. I've only tried that one.

Just a word of caution. When they wear down, be extremely careful in the rain, especially at highway speeds. Those suckers will hydroplane with the greatest of ease. All in all they kick ass on dry pavement, bald or not.

I have 205 60 15 in my Cougar, but my rims doesnt allow wider tires in front (im using FWD rims). The 225 60 15 are a great choice. Post pics when you can !

I have been using 225-15 60 series all around for years. Great handling, but the fronts wear quick.

I wish I could find some 16 inch 4 lug rims cheap, it would make tire selection much easier.

I've been using them for years, they wear great, work well in snow and rain, look great and very little noise at high speeds.
