For those interested, I'm going to be getting some lasered bits for the rear shock adapter brackets. To refesh, these would be to mount the more plentiful (but shorter) Mustang shocks on a Tbird/Cougar. I'll post up some pics when I get the pieces and get a sample together.
I'm interested.
Projected cost?
Not 100% certain yet, but $20-25/set seems plausible.
count me in,... in fact, after buying them motor mounts, im probley in for anything you make lol.
Well, I'm ordering stuff for 5 sets initially. It may be a couple weeks before I have the lasered stuff back. The big holdup on these will be waiting for the plating since they will be done with the motormounts I'm doing, which will take a bit longer to get together ;)
Another option for these would be for me to powder-coat them. My buddy will be doing a little gloss black in the next couple weeks and if there was a consensus on this over plating we could do that as well. This would make these available sooner.
Ok another question. Do these just bolt to the original shock mounts and extend them upwards?
They bolt into the stock location and also to the where the stock tab went (gets drilled out).
even though I haven't even begun on my car, i'm down.
will a later batch be likely? id be down but im not sure what the outcome of the car is going to be for the next few months?
Oh most likely. I just didn't want to get stuff for a -load of them to start. I keep my prototype batches pretty small ;)
forgot to ask, will they be for lowered cars, stock height, or both?
These should work for both. They raise the shock point about 2.5" over stock.
WHY the HADES have I not seen this! I'm IN!!!! :D :D :D
Well like I said, I will have 5 sets this time around. When I have them available for orders I will contact interested folks from this thread in order and go from there.
I'm all over getting these, got money on hand!
Dave
Ill also take a set. These will work well on the TC when its time for shocks and struts.
Im assuming these would also work with the SN95 shocks.
im down
I'm in for a set.
I believe the SN95 shocks are longer than the fox mustang shocks...much closer to what we have...someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Nope, they are only marginally longer than the Fox stuff...no where near the Tbird stuff....
If that was the case...I wouldn't bother with these...
Would these brackets be suitable for coilovers?
They are going to be stronger and more secured to the axle than the stock brackets are.
How's this Jeremy?...I'd feel comfortable using these with coil-overs on my own vehicle.... :p
:D
I thought the main problem with rear coilovers was the lack of support where the shock mounts to the body, not the axle mount...
The axle side is a weak point. If you look at MM's rear coil-over kit you will see the heavy duty shock mounts.
im interested in a set
Well it looks like I'll have to go through the first 5 interested folks first (once I have the stuff) and then order up some more bits for more after that.
Hee, hee! I'm number 2! ....um, wait a sec. I think I need to rephrase that....just a little.:giggle:
Am I number 5?
I am not a number, I'm a free man! (headbangin' and air guitaring ensues....):headbang:
[/end hijack]:D
so i guess that makes me #3 as long as im somewhere between 1 and 5 im happy lol.
Sounds like a great idea! i cant wait to see them. Powdercoated black would be nice for me.
*cries*
its ok shawn, i'll give ya a hug and make it all better.
So what your saying is you give up your position. :D
:rollin:
Well sence I really can not tell if all spots are taken, I would easly take a pair, got money on tap, just wating to find out who the first 5 are.
Dave
chuck, i'll take a set (if no one paid you yet).
I haven't asked folks for money or taken orders. What I'm going to do is when I get the stuff and verify that things are copacetic, I'll go in order of replies to this post (as I have already said I would). After that I'll then order more pieces/parts to handle the balance of the interested folks.
Yeah, when will my set be available ;)
Count me in for build #2.
These brackets are already available. I had a set installed on my TBird,
(now Dogcharmer's TBird) so I could use Mustang type shocks and coilovers. I can't remember who makes them, but I can find out in a couple of weeks. Here's a photo.

What the **** dude... Why are you stepping on Chucks toes?
He's not stepping on any toes.
Those brackets look more like they were made with coil-over specifically in mind. They look a bit over-complicated for someone just wanting to use some decent shocks with the stock-type set-up.
John, those don't look like they're made for regular stock-style shocks though. I only say that because of the horizontal stud on 'em. Unless I'm not seeing it right maybe?
EDIT: D'oh! Nevermind, Chuck beat me to it. Confusion eliminated.
I didn't mean to step on anyones toes, The brackets are made for shocks that have a rod end on them. I got the shocks from Griggs racing, and I think they came with both the rod end and a stud mount. It's been a couple of years or so since I put it all together. I just saw this post and remembered what I had done. Don't try to raise the attachment point at the axle to use shorter shocks, The rear end will get squarely. It somehow screws up th geometry of the rear suspension.
Nope!:D
I'm not a number, but my place in line is!:flip: :rollin:
count me in also. i would like 1 set powder coated.
is coil over better? what is the deal with them. i dont know anything about them and was just wondering? and chuck did you say that we might be able to use them with your bracket?
How is that? The shocks don't affect suspension geometry unless it lets the suspension droop/compress beyond its designed limits.
Putting a 3" spacer at the top or bottom of the shock will have the same effect. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

I just ordered rod extentions...hope they fit.
Just a couple quick pics of one I threw together today since I FINALLY got my laser order after almost 2 months...

I'm going to wind up using a set on the 80 XR-7, but I also still need to get more of the hardware together and the parts plated.
those are sweet i just found this thread let me know when i can get a pair of those ill take them just like that
dude i need them so bad. chuck is a genious
So would those work even if the nut on the backside of my original bracket broke off? It was almost falling off so i welded it back on.
I know you said something about drilling something out. Would that be that bolt/nut?
The drilling is for the upper hole there you see. They will be held to the axle by 2 bolts.
*cries*
I still want a set :(
Given any thought to selling some as weld-up kits?
Not yet..but it is possible.
This will help us all out by giving us a hell opf a lot more shock options for the future. I'm glad someone is taking the time to develop these. Thanks Chuck! we all owe you one for this.
Man I need to visit the sight more. I missed out on the motor mounts, sub-frame connectors.... and now these!
Chuck, put me down for a set of these AND a set of motor mounts (5.0) as soon as you have made more. They look awesome! Thanks for all your hard work.
Chuck, you can take me off the list and let some one else have my spot. I'm aborting my 87 project and dumping everything into the 86 so I wont be needing the shock adaptors.
Ill gladly fill his spot :)
it all!
why was I outside fixing my car, why? :D
I'm going to keep the first set for the 80 XR-7 (they're kind of sloppy as I was sorting out the best way to weld them together).
The other 4 sets will be available soon, and I will be getting parts for more.
r they ready yet ive been holding out on my lakewoods for many months for the great and almighty chuck to work his magic
I'm waiting for a little more feedback from the couple folks who have them before I green-light any more.
im just gonna go to nates and steal his!! muahhahahahahahaha
*locks brackets in super secret hiding spot* ha... eat it! nice burnouts at the car show btw
Well, since I already have ChuckW subframes and motor mounts, put me on the list for a set of these too. Thanks, Jim.
well ill just use my super secret hiding spot detector 4000 to find it!!!!! hahahahahahahah thanks on the burnouts i want the video so i can post it on here
I should have some feedback for you in a couple of weeks.
Cool
getting ready to do my suspention soon so i forsure want some.
So whats the ETA for the brackets? I am need of some. After reading through the pages last month I realized why my lakewoods are trashed. I have new ones to install, just waiting on you!
I'm waiting on some more feedback from the couple folks who have some before I green-light more.
Well hussle up and get them green-lighted. ;)
I'll take a set when they become available. I'd build them myself, but for $25ish bucks, I'll just wait. :D
I'm also elbow deep in motor mounts too...got some new ones working :D
Isn't the Fox motor mount market pretty well saturated? What are you doing different?
It's saturated if you can use V8 Fox Mustang mounts.......I could care less about those folks....I fill niches.

A few pics HERE (http://www.turbochuck.com/images/Motor%20Mounts/)
That's pretty flippin cool, Chuck.
What are you using to cut them? A waterjet? Are you an engineer?
My blanks are all laser cut and bent by a local shop I've known since my KB days.
The paper from the university says I'm an engineer....haven't done much "official" engineering work since I left Kenny Brown's 5 years ago. I had several contacts for plating and hardware, etc since I handled alot of the manf stuff there.
ed engineers :nutkick:
:rollin:
Yeah, but this engineer will pick up a welder :hick:
lol, i know.
chuck here is the only engineer i know that will actually pick up a wrench(let alone a welder :welder:) and do some work.
stereotyping is fun, eh? im jus a stupid mechanic turned fabricator...
*cough* Seat Braces *cough*:nkhk:
:)
Hey...you got yours already :shakeass:
Only 50% of my cars have them!
I'll probably install them within the next 5 years.
What? you make seat brackets also? I need some of those.. Chuck, you may be my next Summit Racing!
He's refering to the seat support/SFC crossbraces that I had a while back when I was doing some TBird SFCs. The SFCs for the Tbirds/Cougars are easy to make since they can be done with straight main tubes. The seat supports just allowed for an easy upgrade.
Ahh, hmmm, I was looking at a getting a pair of seats by ProCar. The bucket seats that look like they are from the 60's era. I like the look without the headrests. Now I have to bust more knuckles trying to make seat brackets. Anyway, let me know when I am getting closer to the rear shock brackets. Thanks for the reply.
I won't be able to offer any feedback for awhile on my set. Some things have piled up that need taken care of first, so the shock brackets have been put on hold for now.:disappoin :o
On a side note though, does the plating need sanded before paint?
I'll put in an order for a set..
I'll start a new thread in the vendor section when it's time for orders.
Alright
Mine are installed. Didn't get a chance to drive it yet though. That'll be happening next week. They look good tho. :grinno:
thanks for rubbing it in there big guy....
j/k keep us updated..
Here's some pics of Chuck's mounts installed. :grinno:

Any new feedback from the couple guys who have these?
send me some shocks, and i can give you some feedback ;)
I might be in for another set. :D
i really really really wanna be in for a first set so i can put in my lakewoods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAse!!!
Chuck .......... You have any of these still available?
John
If you have any or when you have any I'm in for a set as well. Thanks!
Well evidently I need to look into making more of these....
How did they work out for those who have them? I couldnt find any feedback.
Chuck, If you do make a few more please put me down for a set.
I was contemplating those Mr Gasket shock extensions, but I am not comfortable with potential stress they may put on the threaded part of the shock. Then BAM!!!!! I came across this thread. I got to come here more often :bricks1:
John
I'm unclear here, but as mine is an 84, and someone else tome me this, but do i need these shock mounts or are stang good in it as is?
I haven't had any problems with them. I'm running 2003 Bullitt Stang Tokico Shocks.
All 80-88 Tbird shocks are the same length....and Mustang shocks are too short for any of them.
So I *would* need a set. How much would that run me when you put them on sale?
You would need them if you were using Mustang shocks. Use T-bird shocks and you wouldn't need them.
I am still waiting for a set too.
OK, ok, ok, ok... :p
Give me a couple days to check a few things and I'll do a small group purchase batch.
Watch the Vendor Forum for details.
Thanks Chuck
John
I'm not looking for them soon, but planning out the project. About how much would a set run though?
See HERE (http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?p=134595#post134595) for the GP thread.
You are FAST!!!!!!:D
Thanks again Chuck
John
