Title: Frosty cold than super hot, A/C cycyle
Post by: blackcatdaddy on June 27, 2006, 06:24:32 PM
So I recharge my A/C the other day and I'm doing fine for a bout 10 minutes I'm fine. Then that frosty air gets warm again, then cold for a few minutes and then warm again. The pressure is in the normal range and I can't figure out what the hell is going on. If anyone has had this problem or can offer some suggestion please lend me a hand. I know electronics but not A/C, I don't know where to start

First what are your pressure's, what type of refrigerant? how did you recharge? with can or machine? did you evacuate the system first or did you just top off?

I'm running R134A. I did top off, so no evac. Took back the gauge so I don't know the exact rating but it was in the "normal range".  What exactly should I have done?  Do I need to take it to a shop or are there things I can do myself to get this working? I would like to do this myself and would appreciate any tips. Thanks.

Is it the automatic temperature control? The EATC unit on my Mark does that quite often if I use it on any temperature above 60 degrees.. so I just leave it set to 60 degrees and control the temperature with fan and vent settings. Pulled codes on it a long time ago and don't recall getting anything, so I don't know what's what.. but I'm guessing I need to find a replacement control unit.
