Oh, at first look you'll probably wanna throw a wrench at me (*glares at Crystal*) for posting this. But I've found that many northerners like to laugh at us Floridians when we complain about things like this. But hey, for us, THIS IS ED COLD!!! :giggle: So go ahead, laugh away, knowing that a few million Floridians are more than likely complaining up a storm this morning, and it ain't even freezing here. :p
:giggle: I think you're suffering enough today *puts wrench away*
And yeah, don't wanna hear about the cold! Carm, it's your job to show me up, you're one of the few people who gets colder weather than me. :wtf:
I'm not really suffering today, but you can keep that wrench where it is, thank you very much. :p
Thanks to having 3 PCs in one small area, the bedroom stays above 70 degrees most of the time.. especially when we fire up the monitors.
But I can guarantee you that half the people in the state are more than likely complaining their asses off this morning. :p
hmm... tis the holidays right? I guess I can try and behave this time...
Get your hand away from that hammer.. :p
Just remember, you're supposed to be laughing at the expense of millions of "suffering" Floridians.. not plotting how to injure just one of them. :giggle:
But I don't know them, so it's not fun! :grinno:
how bout like this? :brick:
What if it's just a rubber mallet, not a real hammer?
Brick, no.. rubber mallet, maybe. :p
Unfortunately for me, I'm just dumb enough to go outside and try to do some car work today, if the mood hits me. And since I can't paint anything at this temperature, it'll probably be something idiotic like running more carb/choke cleaner through that upper intake I have sitting outside, and hosing it out with the well water. Said water was making my fingers numb yesterday.
Uhhh, can you wait until after I do something stupid like that to hit me with the mallet? :p
ugh, I suppose :shakehead
And that's not THAT cold for car work. I've swapped a t/c nose on to my car in 2 feet of snow, and changed the power steering hoses in a snowbank. Cold is nothing!
Are you THAT impatient to hit me with something? :p
Honestly, the cold isn't that big of a deal to me. I just tell myself over and over again that I was born in Chicago, and it could be much worse. :D But if I do what I'm inclined to do today, I'll probably get wet while I'm out there.. and cold and wet is a bit different than just cold. :p
The big difference is probably clothing more than anything. You all have plenty of cold-weather clothing and pile it on when it gets to be what you consider cold. We just have a few sweaters and jackets, pretty much.
I don't know about the old "thinning blood" argument. My fiance lived in Chicago until June of last year, and now she's as bad as everyone else in the state when it comes to what she'd have considered "cool" weather just a couple years ago.
The temperature is more of a novelty to me than anything. Kinda like if you got hit by a hurricane. :p (not that I'm advocating that, even if you DO hit me with more tools) :p
I suppose this thread would be more fun for ya if I were actively complaining about the "cold", so here goes:
WAAH! WAAH! It's freakin' COLD OUT THERE! Oh the HUMANITY!
Remember.. rubber mallet. If I see wrenches, I'm using Ifixyawata as a shield. :p
See, I messed up my knee again and just burnt myself making tea, I'm just sharing the pain :)
So I figure out something that would be good to do while it's cool outside, (sanding parts of the '88 that are eventually going to be painted.. going to do one quarter panel in the spray paints of the colors I want to use for the whole car, just to see how it looks on the car) and the batteries for my Firestorm cordless are just about ped out after 2 years of abuse. Oh well.
48 and windy out there now.. was rather pleasant. Maybe it's time to track down the corded sander. :D
Since we're on the subject....
Huzzah! Found the corded sander, and even discovered a fresh pack of 220-320-400 wet-or-dry that I picked up awhile back and promptly forgot about.
at present it is sitting at 15 F and with the wind feels like 4 F.which after last night aint so bad(with the wind felt like -3 F)
I can't believe it's warmer here than in OH and MA. :screwy:
I can't believe it's colder here than in Alberta! Look at the temps toward the end of the week though... no white Christmas for us
kinda nippy in Mi too.
Good thing it isn't cold this week :screwy:
We don;t complain about cold, we complain about the heat. :)
For some reason I dont miss manitoba :dunno:
Its at +3 now and its supposed to get up to +10 with rain by the weekend, bye bye snow :grinno:
Topped out at 60 today, which I'm sure some of you would kill for right about now. :p
Got most of the right front quarter panel sanded with 220.. and yep, stupid me, I was out there with the hose again, trying to flush more out of the upper intake. I suppose this means Crystal gets to hit me now. :p
This should make you feel good Bird351. My guess is at least one out of three cars will not start tomorow, make for good business.
Note: all temps in Metric.
-40 C = -40 F, so it's a pretty good indicator either way.
Our weather fluctuates so much. It was like low 36/high 59 (F) the other day, and tomorrow it's probably going to be low 66/high 80. (F) I wish it would stay on the cool side longer. Maybe not as cold as that, though. :p
Strangely, my biggest complaint is that it never "feels" like winter for long anymore. I think it used to be like 60s for the highs all winter. Now we get these crazy-assed spikes one way or another for 3 months, and then back to "summer". The cold, to me, is a novelty that I'd like to experience more, and I just figured some of you way up north would get a laugh knowing that many (probably most) of my fellow Floridians whine up a storm on days like that.
I know what you mean about the fluctuations, Bird351 - just look at our temperature range over the next few days. It's no wonder our roads are all heaved and cracked to hell:
Now this is messed up. It's dropping 34*c (61*f) between Christmas Eve and Boxing day. I'm so glad this is my last winter here.
And we're expected to be in the single digit minus' in the new year. :wtf:
