Well it has Power Door lock, windows, steering, seats (I think...I'll check that one) etc.  5.0 V8 that currently has a blown head gasket.  I currently have a set of e7 heads at the machine shop now getting valve job, and resurfacing.  I also have a complete Short block from an 87 stang for it.  I hear that those block have the desireable pistons and cam.  Right now, most of the engine in the car is apart, and I'm assembling the new one with all new gaskets, bearings, and piston rings.  I'll listen to offers, but I'm looking for 550 as it sits (not including all the new parts), 850 as it sits (with all new parts) or 1000 with the new engine in it....and maybe I'll throw in the 5.0 thats in it....so thats 2 5.0 engines (1 of which is an HO motor) and car.  The interior is in great condition (drivers door panel needs a little help) and I have bought brand new door locks for the car (previous owner lost the keys).  I have started the car, but never ran it, just to confirm the Head Gasket.  Let me know if you want more details.

Post by: ponyman460 on January 07, 2005, 06:55:33 AM
YES, its still for sale..prices as following but nego.  As it sits (NOT running...in pieces) 550 without all new parts..but I'll throw in the HO upper.  As it sits..WITH all new parts 850, and running with new engine =1000.  Like I said, I'm willing to nego if you have a serious offer.  The only thing I'm waiting on for the new engine is piston rings...for the rebuild.  If you would like, you can give me a call at 305-494-4864 to get more details.

How's the transmission and, when do you forecast it being complete?
I am very interested as I am a T-Bird fanatic, and want another Fox body to drive while I restore my 89 Super coupe and the hook-up the fox while I drive the SC.

dont know about the tranny...I'm sure its fine though....I got the car not running.  $ will decide how fast I get it done.... I'm at a lack of it for projects right now, and am working on it.  I'll get the E7 heads back this week or next, and then it goes in...nothing more than that really.  Where are you located?  you want to take a ook at it>?  Let me know.

whats the condition of the car etc.?  I need pics too.  Oh, and I for got to mention...(this may change your mind)...I reassembled the stock engine with all new gaskets.....not the HO.  If I were to let the HO go, I would have wanted at least another 500 just to cover all my costs.  I had the head at the machine shop and he said they were good, so the HG's are new etc.  Currently, I'm looking for 600 for the car, and a quick sale....but its still pending....(but I'll listen to other offes)

Hmmm.. maybe if I get rid of my own '88, I'd be interested. Can't bring another car home without getting rid of one.

EDIT: My aunt also needs some functioning transportation.. so maybe if I can work it out around here to get that and let her use my current '86, and get rid of the '88, (it's leaking water into the interior from all this rain) I could go after that. You're also not terribly far away.. how well would that car hold up to an interstate drive?

EDIT #2: I see a lot of conflicting stuff in the earlier posts, apparently. So you're saying it has the SO back in it, with the stuff you replaced? (I have no way of transporting the other engine, so whatever's in it is all we're interested in.. HO or SO, as long as it runs.. we need another running car)
Title: Re: 1986 5.0 HO Bird FS
Post by: ponyman460 on June 24, 2005, 07:26:43 AM
yes the car runs...since it is not insured, the driving has been limited to in my neighborhood.  I have driven it up to 30 minutes with no problems at all lately.  The interstate drive SHOULD be ok, but like I said, I have not had it far from home yet.

It does have the SO in it now.  But like I said, it is running fine IMO.

Let me know when you would like to take a look at it.  I would like to give it a bath before you get here :D

I will respond to your email as well.

Things are getting crazy around here. I got my '89 LSC and sold my '86 T-bird to my aunt to help pay for the Lincoln.. but now there are brake problems with the '86 that daily bad weather is keeping me from dealing with.. also kinda up in the air about what to do with my two non-functional cars.. and my fiance's job-finding efforts haven't turned out as rosy as we'd like. It's still a possibility that we could buy it from ya someday if it still hasn't sold.. but I don't know when. Any extra money I've had lately has gone into making the '89 LSC more roadworthy. If I could find someone who wanted my '88 T-bird as a project car, and sed up a few dollars past that, then I wouldn't mind picking up a functioning car for my fiance to drive.

Did you solve whatever problems you were having with it recently? I thought I saw you post a problem or two with the car.

Post by: ponyman460 on August 02, 2005, 01:55:40 PM
yeah it was having charging problems...but i got that fixed with a new plug FOR the new alternator that is on it.

What is wrong with the 88?  Why is it considered a project?  What motor etc?
Title: Re: 1986 5.0 HO Bird FS
Post by: Bird351 on August 02, 2005, 02:19:39 PM
It's a 5.0 LX.. (SO, the 155 hp version thanks to the fake duals) needs a fuel pump. Also need to seal the top of the windshield. Front seat leather was shredded badly, but I stripped off most of the bad stuff and put cheap seat covers on it. Back seat leather is going bad at the top of the seat. Also the car badly needs a paint job. The clearcoat on the dark blue paint is completely trashed on half the car, so since it was a project car I started testing it by painting some parts deep jewel green. (grille, header panel, one fender) It's not far from being a daily driver, really.. if the fuel pump is the only remaining problem from keeping it running. (after I reassemble the top of the engine, anyway.. took off the upper and the injectors to soak them for a few days in paint thinner.. injectors are back on but the rail's not bolted down, etc. Again, mostly a bad weather and pain issue)

It does appear to have one bad ring set in it, so it does smoke a little and was having issues blowing oil.

I'm hoping one of my local friends buys it, ideally.. since he expressed a liking of the 87-88 body style more than the 83-86. I am the other way around.. I prefer the "4-eyed" Birds. That's why I still wouldn't mind finding a way to pick up the one you're selling IF I can clear some yard space for it, and if you haven't sold it to someone else by then. If you can find someone else interested in it before then, don't worry about me. Do what you have to do.

I think I have too many oars in the water right now.. undecided on the '88 T-bird.. trying to figure out a way to deal with the '88 LSC.. (my other "project car".. thinking about trying to find someone with a parts Mark who wants a good body to build a running Mark out of, and working some kind of deal for a few parts I'd like to keep from it. I'd hate to just part out a car with such a solid mostly rust-free body) still dealing with the '86 T-bird for my aunt.. and working on my daily driver '89 LSC.

it, I would still love to get that car someday soon. Problems are, A) I still haven't got rid of the two '88s, and I need to before I bring another vehicle home. (unless it's a truck. We NEED a cheap beater truck this month and next)  B) While I am finally working, all money I make in the next few weeks is tied up in other projects that are far more important than one more running car. (has to do with the need for the truck.. basically we're cleaning out the entire house.. we need to get another bathroom put in, plus I need room for exercise equipment so I can build up some strength to tolerate this job)  C) I actually have two running and tagged Fox bodies available now for work transportation.

If I knew anyone else that wanted/needed a 4-eyed Bird, or if I had a space for that, I'd be able to help ya.

then do it LOL.  unfortunately it looks like it will be here for a while.  I may try to do some minor body work to it if it sits any longer.  couple rust spots that I know I can fix.  Hell, I may just pay the registration fees, and put it on the road....but I doubt that.

Come on everyone, he's been trying to sell it for almost a year now.

Every time I think about buying it from ya, something else happens that pulls me further away from being able to buy another car, so I might as well help ya try to sell it to someone else.

I've had a couple people interested in my '88 T-bird and who are in a position to come get it.. so why aren't those people after your car as well? Is it because yours is a "4-eye"?

Oh BTW, to the person who's now apparently obsessed with giving me idiotic reputation responses: "Needs to stay on topic" is a pretty weak attempt to belittle me. Have the stones to say it in public next time, huh? But thanks for the laugh anyway.. I can use all the laughs I can get right now.
