Post by: 91tbird on June 15, 2006, 02:41:02 AM
Does anyone know where the oil sensor on my 1991 tbird 3.8 is.? they installed a new engine on my 91 tbird and the oil light is constanly on since then. I can see through the passenger side by the bottom of the motor there is this thing with cut wires im thinkin thats it? I need to take it to emissions will this light make me fail? thanks

Is it the "Low Oil" light, or the "Low oil pressure" light? If it's the low oil light the sensor is in the pan, and if it's the oil pressure light the sensor is in the front timing cover near the filter. Neither should make it fail emissions, though never having to have a car pass emissions I'm not exactly an expert on that subject :hick:

they are probably spared back in a harness in your engine bay somewhere.  Perhaps yoru gonna find out why they were cut if you hook them back.

Just look for the same wire colors in a harness most likely on the driver side and you will have what you are looking for.  My guess is your gonna find a connector with three wires of the same color with nothing plugged into it.

There will be a low oil level relay associated to the circuit.  Our older cougars call out a relay located in the lower left side of instrument panel.
