Title: Me and my car one.....
Post by: nirvanagod on December 13, 2004, 09:17:39 PM
Stop sign zero.... It's finally decided to start snowing around these parts, and of course it can't just snow a little bit, it's gotta come down by the truckload. I was on my way home from a friends house (after struggling to get outta his driveway!) and went to make a turn onto a side street. Well, ends up that even after doing 15 under the limit, and braking way in advance, I still didn't get slowed down enough. So figuring the stop sign would give easier than any tree I just  lined it up with the center of my car and let gravity and momentum do the rest. Needless to say the stop sign didn't make it! I got somewhat stuck but some kid passing by stopped and helped me back out, and get the sign leaned up in a fairly noticable place. After thanking him we both went separate way. All in all, my advice to anyone driving a rear wheel drive vehicle (or front for that matter) If it's been snowing and not plowed... watch yourself and slow down.

Good advise, also snow tires are worth about 200X their value in winter.

when it snows just inches, people around here hide indoors...makes for some fun times on the slippery roads. Hop on the freeway with no visible lanes, it becomes free for all and everyone goes their own pace, quite fun really

My biggest fear is actually coming to a stop in the snow, its near impossible to get going again in the bird

Just think how bad that car would have been if not for the ground being so soft.

Fun thing about that mailbox is,  every now and then I'll find whats left of a ballbat laying by the road.

Well,  a few months ago the police stoped by telling me that they found an aluminum bat in my yard,  broken glass on the road and several mailboxes down the road were busted.  So I can only imagine how the poor  that tryed to bash it ended up.
