Ok somethings up with the search thing cause I know there was a post explaining how to read the flashes but I cant find it. So to make a long story short I have it to where I can read the MIL flashes. Well I can see it flashing I cant read it at all thats the problem. Who can tell me exactly how to make sense out of the flashes? Thanks in advance
Just count along with the flashes.
When there's a short pause where a flash should have been, write down the number you just had.
When there's a huge pause, wait for the single flash that separates the "KOEO" (current problem) codes from the "continuous memory" (previous problems) codes.
The codes in each section will be repeated twice.
Here's code 32 KOEO, and 21 "memory".
*.*.*...*.*...*.*.*...*.*..........*...........*.*...*...*.*...*........
3 - 2 - 3 - 2 (big pause) 1 (big pause) 2 - 1 - 2 - 1
ok so unless its a single blink its part of a code. and from the looks of it it repeats each code before moving to the next one. am I understanding that correctly?
ok using the - for the pause and the / for the single flashes I ended up with this
2 - 3 - 8 / 8 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 8 / 8 - 2 / / 8 / 8
That's what my MIL light kicked up. I checked it 3 times and got that each time.
Ok so Im gonna take a guess on this.
Looks like I have a code 238 to start with which would be a primary circuit failure.
Ok now just finding the primary circuit.
The next set it looks like I have a code 82 which would be the AIRB solinoid.
Now exactly where is that at?
Then it looks like I have the code 238 again same as before.
Im guessing its showing the code 82 again.
on the last set Im not sure is that an actual code 8 twice which I cant find in any listing or is that a code 88 which is IDM DPI or SPOUT failure?
Is this for the 87 T-Bird or some other car? Some time in the 90's ford went to a three digit code. 87 will be a two digit code.
Key on, Engine off (KOEO)
Digit pulses are 1/2 second on, 1/2 second off
Two seconds off-time between digits.
Four seconds off-time between codes.
Six to nine seconds off-time before and after the 1/2 second seperator pulse.
The codes are presented in the order they suggest trouble shooting them and are presented twice.
Key on engine running (KOER)
Starts with an engine code. 2=4cyl 3=6cyl 4=8cyl
Some EEC's have single pulse similar to the seperator code above that is a "goose engine now" code. I believe it checks the WOT signal.
yeah the computer said it came out of an 87 tbird
