Title: lookin for help
Post by: Uknow520 on June 04, 2006, 03:58:56 PM
Well I recently sold my 93 stangGT and bought a 85-t-bird with a 302 cause everyone had a stang. the motor is old and wore out the car has 118k miles on the motor, automatic trans and car. Wanting to know what would be a good choice for motor and trans. would like to stay with an automatic, but motor and rearend and exc... the car has 14in wheels too which are too small. i want a daily street car but will rip the streets too. any advice or help will be great full.
thanks Jay

what engine and trans to use is very subjective. you can easily stay with the 302/auto and build plenty of power. but similar to the mustang you sold, there are many many swap options available to you.

If you haven't checked this out, it's a good place to start.  It tells you how to do alot of stuff like HO conversions and 5 lug and big brake conversions.  And yes, everyone has a mustang, good choice with the bird!  http://www.coolcats.net/tech/ (http://"http://www.coolcats.net/tech/")

actualy lol, you should find another mustang thats been rear ended or something and swap the engine tranny, and some of the exhaust. idealy that would be an excelant start. personaly, i think the engine swaps are the most easy and cheapest way to add power to the car.

and welcome to another person who got tired of so many mustangs driving around lol.

Welcome to the board neighbor.  Keep the 302 for now convert it to an HO. Stick a 5 speed behind it and call it good. Nate actually has the best idea on it so far I think. Deffinately check out coolcats. That sites what got me started changing stuff in my tbird to begin with as well as how I found this place. great site all around.
P.S. we need pics :D

WELCOME!!!

302 or 351 swap, find a junked sn95 stang for brakes and rearend, and read coolcats.net for a host of idea's on where to go from here..

and yes.. we are pic junkies, if you don't provide them soon, we will hunt you down and take them from you... err.. well i suppose at that point, we could just take them our selves.. or just look.. but.. but.. you know what i mean! :P

welcome.
