I spent some of my wife's comission check on this '87 XR7. I had to replace the IAC motor and the MAP sensor to keep the Coug from stalling. Next...a complete rebuild of this monster...I can't wait!!
Oh yeah...I bought this kitty for $700. It's been in florida it's whole life and has NO, NADA, Zilch, zero rust. Got lucky!
sweet car. i live in spring hill also, pm'd you
nice car. also check out http://www.coolcats.net for more info.
Nice :D
A $700 Cougar here would be rusted beyond belief.
Thanks. It runs good. Has a front seal leak (minor) and still takes a minute to warm up without stalling but is better than it was when I picked it up. I'm looking forward to pulling the 5.0 and getting it refreshed with a few extra horses.
As a new member, I certainly appreciate the info and feedback from this site and fellow members.
Nice car...
Scan the EEC for codes, you'll likely find your stalling problem...
nice looking car man! have fun with her!
I want that moonroof dammit.
Ha! I want the weather stripping for the moonroof...dammit! Thank goodness the afternoon Florida rains haven't been too harsh yet! (thumbing through the catalog for weather stripping...) :)
do you go to the car show at chic-fil-a on thursday nights? me, my wife, and daughter try to get to it at least every other week.
No. I've seen it going on...but it's always been just a drive by viewing. I travel a lot with my job and I'm not always around on weekdays. I'll start trying to get around there when I am traveling locally.
cool. let me know when your around, mabey we can meet up there
You can get the moonroof weatherstripping here: http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/

Car looks nice! If you took a buffing wheel to the paint and cleaned them headlights up it would look even better!
the weather stripping only keeps the wind noise down realy, when it leaks its because its out of adjustment, or your moon roof drains are cloged. u can un clog them by hosing compressed air in the drains behind it. also their are adjuster clips on the sides of the track. you got to mess with them tho to get it to seat rite.
Very true. The paint is something else to be desired. Its one of those $100 paint (orange peel) jobs. There's even some overspray on the door glass by the mirrors. The car has a long way to go before I'm satisfied. This will be a project, no doubt. As far as the headlights, I've cleaned them up some with 800, 1200, 1400 grit sanding (dry&wet) and then a polisher after that. It helped but they all need some more elbow grease. Who knows...I may just buy new lights all the way around.
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out and see if it needs some adjusting...and get those drains unclogged.
'preciate ya!:hick:
