Title: Dash lights not working!
Post by: blackcatdaddy on June 01, 2006, 11:27:26 PM
My dashlights will not work at all. I have the full electronic cluster(88 xr-7). The Auomatic temp control will not operate either. I checked thee fuses and the wires behind the radio as instructed in the tech section of  coolcats. THe lights went out while driving. All of a sudden My A/C cuts off and by dash goes blank. it is still backlit but no information is displayed. Any suggestions on where I should start testing to find the problem?

do you hear a click behind the dash when you turn on your headlamp switch?  if not, the relay isnt getting power.  recheck all your fuses again.

No clicking when headlamps are turned on. The signal indicator does not wor either. I checked everything twice. I notice that the display lights up when the key is  in the on position and then goes out once the car is started. so the bulbs are fine. The wires are fine. I'm thinking the ignition switch. Any other suggestions?

Turns out it was my ignition switch. I got repalced and all is well.
Other bad switch symptoms included: Battery not charging A/C not working. and a host of other electrical problems.
