duhhhh i think i can say sleeper
looks nice :>
thanx this is my new street car:D
cool find. man i like it beter than the stang the hood was just tomuch coupe or not. no more swaping bigblocks. or did you swao the big blockinto the stang b4 the sale and run the 302 in the tc? you swap engines to much lol.
the hood was needed for clearance, traded the big block off, 302 went with the stang, t-bird still in limbo. awaiting the right motor
:d
you move fast man
your an engine slut! hahaha..
nice car.. sleeper?!?!?! only to a ricer.. any muscle car guy will see that a mile away.
thanks, You can hear it a ways off also:rollin:
based only on the title of the thread, i thought maybe, jus maybe, there was a turbo back in the TC.....
this is cool too i guess:evilgrin:
Just pull next to him and you'll see what fast is....
I'm Cool with it....
Now you got yourself a REAL turbo car... Get out there and give them ricer boys some ed-u-maciation. :rollin:
The T-type or GN is one of the few GM cars I'd like to own..
BTW the beige has got to be ultra rare, I know I've never seen one. Mainly just white or silver in T-types.
I could have bought a one owner silver T-type a coupe of years ago. Was a old guy who just drove it, not real hot roddin. It had 122K mi with no major work, orig turbo, etc. I figured once I started leanin' on it everything would break, so I passed it up...
nice turbo t- they can handle 20lbs with 94 pump gas, but with some alky from alky control you can run 25+psi on the street with 94 gas. from the looks of the engine pics its got a houston down pipe, mas air pipe with 9" cone, stock IC. go to http://www.turbobuicks.com for a forum and http://www.gnttype.org for info. first thing i would do with it is the spring cleaning on gnttype.
what kinda chip do ya have for it? some of the older chips are older technology- for the 80$ or whatever from eric at turbo tweak- http://www.turbotweak.com- it makes the car run like its brand new.
id love to have a T in that color but ill just stick with my GN:D
heres a picture of it last year when it was just a daily driver- the grill was off because i was cleaning out my PTE front mount- good luck with it and if ya need any help let me know
Nice :D . GN's and T-Types are the only 80's GM cars I would want, if I could find one that I could afford.
I saw one in beige a few years ago. A guy in the neighborhood I used to work in had it. My guess is it now sits in his garage slowly increasing in value.
I thought I read somewhere that all GNX's were black? Niiice car man, I had never known about these things untill about a year ago when a friends dad traded his home made dragster for one. Then his older brother wrecked it racing some Corvette on prom-night. shame.
Grand Nationals and GNX's (The super-duper version) are only in black, as far as I know. That's just a Regal T-Type, i'm pretty sure, not a GN/GNX.
ill clear some stuff up
all 547 GNXs were all black- there were no twin turbos, v8 turbos, or any special editions- all were single turbo buick V6s. GNXs have a different suspension, up pipe, turbo, and the fender vents with wider fender moldings to fit fatter tires. they also all came with the black centered GTA like rims- but had their own special back spacing
all grand nationals- except the non turbo 4.3L 82 grand national were black (82 were silver and black). there was no white GNX or GN like the mythes say. any GN thats another color has been painted or is a T with GN badges.
every year but 87 you could guy the t type- it was a regal with the turbo V6 package- you could get them any color a regal could come in. in 1987 they switched it from T Type to Turbo T for some reason.
you could also get a WE4- wich is a regal limited with the turbo 6 in it
dont mean to hijack the thread or anything but over the years of owning one ive always heard the stories about some guys next door neighbor had a GNX with a twin turbo V8 from the factory yada yada yada. they make great cars and take a heavey beating. if your in a warm climate flush out the antifreze and fill the cooling system with RMI25- if you blow a HG wich happens on occasion- our main and rod bearings dont like antifreeze.
This is the mod list it has a front mount

Scanmaster 2.1
It runs like stink :)
just from expeirience- ditch the red armstrong chip. he makes his chips a little too fat. ive had a red armstrong chip, stock chip, and a few other burners over the years and none have made the car run better than eric marshall at turbotweak.com.
what front mount does it have in it- i didnt recognize the pipeing thats why i assumed it was a stock location IC
and that scanmaster will be your best friend too:D
ajt86... Good info....
Somewhere I have a magazine(Muscle Car Review??? Hot Rod??), that the dealer who got the last GNX describes his experience following the car through the build. If I remember correctly workers on the line signed just about every part on it...
The owner of a large Pontiac store in Dartmouth, NS, has a GNX stored in the basp00get of the dealership with just seven kilometers on it. I saw it when I worked there (but didn't touch it - that was a no-no). It still has all the plastic coverings that new cars have before they're PDI'd. I'd love to have what that would be worth today. The funny thing is that since it's never been titled and has always belonged to the dealership, it has no new vehicle in service date, and if the dealership were to sell it now, technically, it's a brand new car with full factory warranty :D
i beleive 546 got set to a dealer but i think 547 the last one lives with number 001 at the GM museaum- im not 100% sure though. one of my buddys has a GNX they are pretty cool but no one drives them so it makes them not fun- making 18000 grand nationals has its perks cuz you can mod it to hell and not feel bad about it
id rather have an 89 turbo trans am than a gnx- a little under 2000 made, handles good since its on the F car platform- but with the GN powerplant. you could get a decent gnx for 20K 2 years ago now they go from 50-90K. ive seen a GNX with 110K miles on it sell for 45K
yeah it seems a hair fat, i really want to stay a little on the fat side.
the front mount im not sure it is a bar and plate unit and fills the grill area.
Were can i find info on the scanmaster so i can read up on what it does and how it functions.
http://www.geocities.com/rad87gn/tech/scanmaster.html
the reds chip will make it fat- but too fat and alot of times that will effect the spool up, a TT chip runs just fat enough
and like i said- any questions you can ask me or go to turbobuicks.com theres guys there that have owned these things longer than ive been alive
oh yea and for the most part you wanna run with the scanmaster on the first screen with knock retard and 02 millis. i was able to run 20lbs on sunoco ultra 94 octane with only .3* of transitional knock when it shifted from 2nd to 3rd- keep the knock at 0 or less than one for the 2-3 shift and youll save your head gaskets:D
so far i havent seen any Knock on the scanmaster, ive been watching the o2 voltage. Looks like it is a great tuning tool.
its great for a daily driver- if ya want somthing better for raceing you can get direct scan- its a computer program for a laptop- somtimes the scan master wont register knock if it happens so fast but the direct scan can because of how many frames per second it records- good luck with it and dont blow it up:D
yeah , im going to daily drive the car , and maybe make a few spirited runs a weekend. I hope it last's a long time.
sniff sniff. brings back memories of my 87 GN. It had a TE60 turbo, ported heads and a 3000 stall converter. Sucker ran mid 11's at full weight with a 6 point rollcage. ajt86, you ain't kiddin about the antifreeze thing. I blew a headgasket (not the first!) and filled the engine with coolant. Talk about destruction. In the short time it ran like that it pretty much killed every rod and main bearing as well as the turbo bearings and shaft! I've thought about getting another one but I already have a money pit in progress. I found out that the guy who bought mine has health problems and can't race them anymore(he had 6 of them when he bought mine), and my old GN is sitiing in his barn and has not been moved or started in over 3 years. What a waste. Oh well. Sorry for the hi-jack sleeper bird:D
P.S Nice T-Type btw, interesting color.
N/P , the color is what sold me on it:D
When you do go to sell it, remember who asked first. :D
http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1336483#post1336483
Cant afford to keep it.
Whoa you bought it and are selling it in the same thread! You change cars more often than you change underwear man! :D
Hope it goes to a good home.
