Hey all, just installed Maximum Motorsport's 1" rear swaybar... its so much better. Car is much flatter in corners, bet it would actually drift nicely if I was into that kind of thing. Man, I wish I had this bar on when I went open tracking! :)
Anyway, if you're a corner carver with a Turbo Coupe/Xr7 front bar, the MM rear bar is the one you want. Understeer is now kept in check!!!
what bar did you have on stock? tc/xr7?
He has an 88 XR7.
Yup, the front XR7 bar is 1 5/8" (or is it 1 3/8, I can never remember numbers :p) and the rear stocker is 7/8. Going to 1" could very well be the ideal rear bar for that gigantic front bar.
I was gonna use the 7/8 rear bar for my Fox Continental, but odds are I'm gonna get another from MM when the time comes!
So yeah, I'm a happy camper. :)
The front bar should be 1-5/16" (33mm).
The larger rear bars do make the car feel better on the streets, but I don't think you'll gain anything on the track. I run a 1" bar on my car...but the front springs are also stiffer than stock (kind of balance out the roll stiffness).
If you're happy with it on the street then that's what's important, but next time you go to the track, take the smaller one along as well.
Good point I neglected to mention. Its more of a feel thing.
I no longer have to worry about massive understeer that kills my line if I miscalculate my speed entering a corner. Overall grip hasn't changed, its just the front/rear balance and body roll.
