ok i am wondering if someone can give my the length of the following transmissions from engine mounting face of bellhousing to the tail shaft face without the input shaft (on the body of the transmission itself) next to each of these i have the numbers that i think are the right number but i want to double check these lengths. also have the splines for the output shaft.
2.3 SROD 4 speed 31 1/16" 28 spline output
2.3 T-5 5 speed 31 3/4" 28 spline output
3.8 C5 3 speed auto 24" 28 spline output
i am putting a 2.3 with the srod 4 speed into my 84 mercury cougar(no turbo just n/a 2.3) and i have the 3.8 c5 i am tryin to figure out how much i need to shorten my driveshaft... the figures i have come up with are aproximately 7 inches shorter driveshaft length. If anyone can provide input it will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Eric
you should be able to use the same driveshaft.
i will measure my t-5 and c-5 tommorrow
well ill be using a SROD transmission... which is close to a T5 im pretty sure and i know a C3 trans is 24 inches but i assumed the C5 was the same since where i looked for my info didnt have the c5 but they had c3. I really appreciate this thank you
I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to make sure this info was available. I just measured my 1983 C5 and it measures out at ~32", Bellhousing face to tail shaft seal.
I just realized that the length of my T5 will probably be different than everyone else's application, as it's out of a 2000 V6 Mustang, but the basic trans length(No Bell) is ~24.5", with Bell for my application, total length from Bell face to rear seal is ~31.5".
