First what have you done to the car?
There are all kinds of "cheap" upgrades.
Get rid of the air box and run a cone fair filter.
Find an HO upper intake and throttle body.
HO headers and off raod H pipe if emissions lets you.
Free flow lers.
True duels.
What is your definition of cheap? 25 bucks here and there wont get you any real gains, but a little bit of something.
Grab an electric fan out of a taurus. Junkyard item.
Cold air intake from ebay. Just need to either put a MAF sensor in the intake, or buy the 50 dollar adapter. The intakes usually run about 60 bucks.
Advance the timing. Free
If you want to spend a little more money. You can get into putting some HO parts on the car. Like an HO intake manifold and throttle body. You can usually get em for under 100 bucks, but sometimes you luck out and find em at junkyards on lincolns.
Where more money comes in is the exhaust. You can use all stock mustang stuff, or you can use aftermarket stuff, its all in your budget
Underdrive pulleys are always an option.
And while it's probably the most expensive thing mentioned so far, you could change, (or have changed for ya) the rear gear to say...a 3.55, or even a 3.73...won't make any more power than you already have, but it'll sure get you moving faster, thus making it fell like it has more power...
Like said, free up the fan, timing, and some stock HO Stang headers, that's a good start..you can get a whole HO setup from ebay for probably under 200 bucks, if ya look around and be selective..and don't mind putting stuff together.
what kind of lincolns would you find an HO intake on? i am looking for cheap upgades too. will the cam work out of they as well?
Mark VII. Make sure it is an LSC and look under the intake plaque. It should have HO cast into the intake runner. The cam will work but it is a different fireing order.
