My driver's door weatherstripping used to leak real bad, so last summer I replaced it. Well today I was driving in to work in the rain and I noticed that there was still some water getting past the weatherstripping on the driver's side door. Is that normal?
I don't really get it because I haven't had a single problem with the passenger side door leaking at all...
What did you replace the old stuff with?
That stuff they sell for $35 a roll at advance auto parts...it's the exact same style as the old stuff though.
My white one did that it only leaked in the upper front corner of the door in real hard rain or at the car wash. It had been wrecked though and the entire driver side of the car was tweaked a lil. It leaked no matter what weather stripping I used or what door it had on it. Although I changed the door and it did slow down the leak to where it wasnt as bad. It could be possible your doors bent a little and not sealing if the weather stripping is the exact same it should seal right unless somethings bent keeping it from it. You did remember to put the meeting spot for the two ends at the bottom of the door right?
Yeah I put the connection at the bottom.
I dunno, I'm fairly sure this car hasn't been wrecked as the carfax was clean. I did booger up the driver's side a little but it wouldn't be enough to affect the weatherstripping I wouldn't think.
well mine still looked straight too . Im not sure why but for some reason most Ive seen leak there some I know my brown one does if the water hits it just right and a certain angle with enough pressure. i.e. spraying the top of the car at the car wash.my white one poured water in half the time before I changed the doors though where as my brown one just leaks a little nothing major just a few drops here and there.the door had been pried on on my white one you could see where they had a crowbar stuck down between the door and the car and dented the car in. Thats why Im guessing it was a bent door.
I was always going to try taking a 2X4 and putting it between the door and the sill and bend the top of the door in a little. Not sure man hope you figure it out though
