ok i was thinking bout this for a while. but since the hub assemblys are intergrated intot he rotors. so i thought of this. take a hub from a mustang or something rear wheel drive. then just use the rotors ya don't have to take apart the hub to get off. so now how good is this and can it be done? cuz im looking at cost effectiveness. cuz its alot cheaper to use a set up like that than using a set up like our cars have now. any ideas or input on this would be greatly appreciated!! Thanx!!
what are you tryin to accomplish?
if youre only lookin to be able to use a hat style rotor, i cant think of any hubs that are only 4lug. and especially not any that would be a drop-on for the stock spindle.
if youre lookin for a 5lug conversion, then basically youre lookin at sn95 parts. for this you will need the spindle as well. the hubs on the sn95 use sealed bearings that will not mate to the older fox spindles.
well what im thinking is getting away from the intergrated hub assembly. but going to the rotor and hub being a seprate unit. would be cheaper to purchase the rotors insted of getting em with everything all in one.
As Gumby says, aboout your only option is SN95 brakes, which require SN95 spindles, hubs, rotors, calipers, and maybe even control arms (not sure, but somebody that has done the swap could chime in). This of course would also mean new wheels, since the SN95 is five lugs. And naturally, you'd have to swap your rear axles and brakes as well.
If the only reason you want to do this is "cheapness", it ain't feasible. You'd spend far more money and time doing the SN95 swap than you would on new rotors with integrated hubs...
I would think you'd have to change all that anyway to switch to a hat style rotor. Not sure on the A arms I think theyre a little longer or shorter then the ones on our car not totally sure though. Im sure theres someone who can tell you exactly how much if any on difference.IMO though the SN95 swap would be a feasable solution due to the fact that there is a wider selection of aftermarket rims for 5 lug that arent just the normal mustang cobra rims.As well as the possibility of larger brakes if I remember correctly. Mainly because with as big as these cars are they deserve larger brakes then what ford put on them. Then again I have the base model and they got the smallest brakes if I recall.
