I've had my 87' Tbird 5.0 a year now.
I've found 4 vacuum leaks so far.
The hard plastic spagetti wears through when it rubs on something.
Each leak fix has improved the drivabilty considerably.
Good tip to give these lines a visual inspection.

were are these vaccum lines located? i dont know nothing about vaccum lines, but when i turn my car off i hear this swoosh of like if air is coming out of the tire but its coming from somewhere in the engine. could this maybe be a vacuum Leak?
Two things. If your car is equiped with a vresser it may cause that sound. It does on my ranger and our 84 f250. A vresser is actually part of the emissions (I
think). Now your "ball" that is inside your fender... (I think again)... if one of the lines going from it to the Hvac is busted it can cause a sound like that.
What im sure of is your sound is a vacuum bleed off..... Or is the sound only present when you have been using the a/c? I've heard a few a/c systems wistle when the pressure balances after the compressor stops spinning.
nope an one more thing i should of add if it mamy be related to the ac but dont know the lines from the ac get very cold and get frozen with ice even if i dont have the ac on. whats causing this? ill check the ball by the fender also. sorry for hijacking youre thread there bud i should of started my own but this is my last question.
One vacum line just above the heater on engine side of firewall, went to the EGR valve I think.
One line on the passenger side fender just above cylinder 1 to the air pump.
The engine vibrates the body doesn't (much).
If your AC is off then the electrical clutch on the compresor should be disengaged, the inside pulley should stand still.
Even with the AC off the computer spins it every couple minutes to avoid a lockup.
