Hey all,
Two questions related to TC components:
1.  Would an auto TC floor shifter fit an AOD?  I know there is one too many gear positions, but would it work, knowing that the "1st gear" position was useless?
2.  True or false?  TC PRC rear shocks can only be used with a TC rear disk axle setup.  I've heard this said, but in looking at the parts, I see no reason why PRC shocks wouldn't fit on a standard drum axle.  Aside from the electric actuators on the top, it's still just a shock, isn't it?

The tc floor shifter will not work on an aod,it is completely different(i know i tried,you need one out of a 5.0l sport bird.
And i see no reason why the prc's would not work but you would have to change them manualy.

Been there done that, what dominator says is correct... With a pair of relays you could wire up a manual change setup with a momentary switch inside the car...

i am sorry but i do beleive you CAN use the c5 shifter for AOD.... because the C5 has 3 points of foward shifting spots.... aod is the same.... 1st 2nd and drive(overdrive is in same location... automatic overdrive) so..... all in all.. c5  P space R N D 2 1  and aod is P space R N (D) 2 1  i may be able to find the info i had on it... but i remember this due to the fact of possibly using an AOD trans and v8 in my 84 with 3.8 c5

First off, the TC didnt have a C5 in the early years, it had a C3. And secondly, we dont know what year shifter he's talking about. 83-86 used a C3 tranny, 87-88 used an A4LD.

Shawn is correct, but yea maybe the C3 shifter could be used. The A4LD shifter is even different in how it attaches to the tranny shift lever, it's more trouble than it's worth...

ok... i just thought i read some of that somewhere that i could use (personally) the c5 column shift and use it on aod but hey lol i dunno i didnt actually do it... going stick :-D

Hey all,
Sorry for leaving out pertinent information.  I was referring to the '87/'88 A4LD shifter.  It sounds like it's a definite "no-no".  Thanks for the help.
