Title: The only good prom date left for me...
Post by: kingcars on May 04, 2006, 11:05:53 PM
...is pictured in my signature below.

My senior prom is on Saturday, and I had a date lined up.  We have known each other since 7th grade, and during that time I was kind enough to give her several (translation:  several more than I should've) chances to "make things right."  Anyways, a few days ago we were talking on the phone and she started going off about how she thinks my mom hates her, but yet she refuses to talk to her about it (nevermind the fact that mom has always been kind to her and doesnt...well...didnt hate her).  Well, fast-forward to today.  My best friend and I go to pick up our tuxes.  Even though we ordered our tuxes within minutes of each others, his was there and mine wasn't.  Surprise surprise, FedEx hadn't delievered my tux! (remember how they screwed me over on my 3.27 rear end gears a couple of months ago).  As my friend fits into his tux, I'm just pacing around outside when my cell phone rings.  It's my prom date.  She tells me "Since you didnt lay out our prom plans yesterday, I've decided to go with [insert ugliest GIRL in school here].  I'll still dance with you at prom though."  So I replied "Wait a second...how was I supposed to lay out prom plans if you were going off on a rampage about my mom the whole time?"  When Saturday night comes, she's going to get it from me (and not in a good way).  I had enough self control to keep from cussing her out right there in the formal attire store.  Later I find out that she even told my best friend about the situation with my mom, and he pretty much told her she was nuts.  THEN she had the audacity to tell my friend that I'M the one acting weird!  It's the last straw with me; she's had WAY too many chances.

Ok, now that I'm off my soap box (aahh...gotta love dramatic high schoolers), I'll tell you all my conclusion:

Tomorrow, when I get home from school and pick up my tux, my Thunderbird is getting the most thorough washing she's ever gotten.  I'm going to drive her to prom (well...I dont have my license yet so someone will have to come with me) and I'm going to have a good time with my true friends.  I'm actually a lot more excited now than I was before about going.  But now I've realized that the best girlfriend/date I'll ever have (at this point in life) will be my trusty Thunderbird, and I plan on taking advantage of it.

Sorry for the long, dramatic post, but I needed to vent off some steam...

Pfft. I have yet to have a decent relationship...

It's going to happen.
My junior prom, my date and I hardly spoke the entire time... can you say awkward...
My senior prom, my date cried because she couldn't walk down the steps with her father first and then walk down with me. I felt as significant as snot.

I'm 3 years into college and have yet to find anyone close to a "keeper"

Probably need to find me a slightly older more mature woman ;)

Eh me and my girlfriend broke up a month before senior prom. I got another date and she cancled the week before senior prom. My friend ended up getting me a date with her friend. We had a nice time but I haven't seen her sense then. Oh yeah here's a pic of me and my "date" on prom night;) .

i went to the prom as a sophmore with a senior friend, and my junior and senior years with the same girl that i dated for those 2 years.....  had a lovely time..... then we broke up the first semester of college (those relationships never work when you goto colleges 6 hours apart) and then the following spring i met my wife and 7 months later we were married...... hmmmmm 12 1/2 years and 3 kids later, i guess i got lucky :)

too bad i'm 32 and still trying to finish college......  so it's not all roses :nono: truthfully, sometimes i wish i would have finished college then got married....  oh well, life is like that sometimes.....  just remember, if you take your car to prom, at least she won't be a bad date (unless she breaks down, then i guess your life really does suck)....  sorry:dunno:

Took my gf to her prom a couple of weeks ago, the t-bird got it all, every nook and cranny vaccumed, everything washed and waxed inside then air freshened. washed, polished outside, even cleaned those  wire hubcaps to make them presentable. 1 hour before photos I come home from putting gas in it and realise the rear passenger tire is completely flat (didnt even notice while driving) sidewall had small leak which was getting bigger. ended up being driven by her parents as the other tbird with spare tires was an hour away... atleast my gf preformed well that night ;) I plan on keeping both of them despite everything that has happened.

Oh and the age thing doesnt seem to be a problem, i'm 20 and shes 18 weve been together over a year and living together 8 months without any problems. I say shes mature for her age, she says i'm immature for mine so we just agree to disagree (although i'm obviously right) besides *puts on flame suit* older women think they know everything, I got mine young while she can still be taught :p

I used to really hate high school formals, proms, whatever. Sometimes you get stuck on a date with a girl who just really needs to take a hike. Plus, it just gets really uptight and stuffy if the "group" dynamic is off ... which was like 90% of everyone else in the group who got stuck with their last choice or someone who was just desperate to get ANYONE.

So, for my senior prom, me and my best buddy decided to refuse all offers. We still went to the traditional dinner with everyone and rode in the limo to the dance, but neither of us bought a ticket. Instead, we took that ticket and tuxedo rental money and spent it out on the town. Basically, we had the whole limo with driver to ourselves (since it was still rented out for a few more hours), lots of cash, a big screen TV in the back with the NBA playoffs on, and no lame dates who cared more about how they look than having a good time.

The only bad part was the gay "jokes" and "accusations" from others in the dinner group ([Seinfeld]: Not that there's anything wrong with that!). Jealous s!

Screw prom. For some people (read: those needing attention) it's a chance to show off. You don't need that conformist . Know what I did on my senior prom night? Stayed home and watched Miami Vice. Friday nights at 10 on NBC...that was the place to be. And yes, it was an original airing LOL. Little did I know that just a few days later I'd get my first car. But I look back now and think, man...those were cool days. I never regretted not going to the prom--it just wasn't my thing at all. I don't need to spend a few hundred (borrowed) dollars and be with someone I really don't want to be with, to go to a dance where I won't dance, to be with people that I really couldn't care less about, all for a big beauty contest that's a only few hours long. Fun? Meh. It's all relative. But prom, that's not fun to me. I think I'd rather change a heater core and oil pan first.

However...if all proms were like the prom in American Pie then I'd say go for it. ;)

Hey kingcars look at it this way.  At least the girl ditched you BEFORE you spent all that money taking her to dinner, etc.

I went to my senior prom and it was okay but not really that great.  Later on I went when I was 19 with my girlfriend at the time to her senior prom.  That one was really fun.  I guess it really depends on who you go with.  It's definitely something I'm glad I did though.  The memories are worth it. ;)

On a sad note I'm going to prom this year. My friends sister needed a last minute date so I said I'd go. So instead of spending time with my girlfriend I get to go to prom. Great:yuck:

When I was in high school, I didn't have a girlfriend at the time of prom, so rather than wasting it with some dumb girl I decided to take one of my best friends since kindergarten. Well she got the mumps a few days before the dance, so I asked my other friend.  She said ok but her mom said no way. (crazy overprotective family) The day before prom I spent the night at my buddies house cause we were going to give our cars full details in the morning (my vette (didn't have the bird then)) So its the day of the dance and I have no date.  So I call up this girl that I took to winter formal.  I reluctantly asked her if she wanted to go, and she said yes. So I ended up going to prom with a dumb girl anyway. :hick:

Over the progression of my school dances you could see my smile on my face turn more to a frown each year.  The freshman dance was so cool, the girl was so hot!  And really fun ;)  Junior prom, girl was nice, I was in love.... she turned into a crazy bitch shortly after.  Then I didn't go to my senior prom, but I did go to the one after it the next year as a favor.  The girl was ugly, the girl was dumb, and she had no self esteem.  But I went anyway, and it was stupid, the theme was stupid, the school was stupid I hated every minute of it.  I even didn't bang her after wards ( crazy and ugly) even though she was beggin for it....

All in all, if I could have relived my freshman dance again for each prom....man that would have been good.

I'm a pretty shy/anti-social person, and as it turned out my now girlfriend was actually trying to hook me for her best friend, her best friend found another guy at the time, and she wound up falling for me.  She's my first girlfriend ever (I'm 18, yeah I know) and our first "date" was a lunch date on Nov. 24, 2004, it's been almost a year and a half now that we've been together.  There've been some hard times, and we have some differences in thought, but I've never experienced anything like this, and after this long I still feel the way I did back then about her, just not so scared!

I went to two dances with her, one where she received a special honor (a Debutante Ball, first I've ever heard of it) and the Senior Prom at her high school (never went to the one at my high school).  It was hard on me in a way because I'm not very social, but I'll do pretty much anything for this young woman.  Everything I do with her is the time of my life!

I have some pics, too!  Even a goofy pic of me dressed up for prom...

She's older than me too believe it or not!  She's 19.  I know, she's tiny, 110 pounds.

Here we are together:

Yes, we're an unlikely couple if you don't know us, but it seems to work great.  Anyway, now that I've bored you...

As you can see I'm all about the traditional tux... :D  I even own that one, though I think I need to do something about the pants.  If you check with your YWCA they have a bridal shop sometimes apparently within (the one here does anyway) and they get stuff in sometimes that you can get really reasonably, so I just bought the pants and coat and such and then got a shirt somewhere.  Anyway, way off topic but I thought some of you might want to know, so you don't have to rent.

Anyway, I didn't even take her to prom in the TC, it's just not nice enough and too loud, hehe.  I took the 97 Camry, which is actually a very nice car.

Kids in school were just stupid for the most part.

Some good readin' here...I too didn't go to my junior/senior proms, but did go with the wife to both of hers...the proms weren't too bad in their own right, but the parties afterwards sure made up for it!

Yeah, Darkthunder, i had a 10 year class reunion last year myself..didn't go though, I never fit in with others (go figure)
I'd rather be by myself, or in a (very) small group, and probably half drunk to even stand it...just don't like crowds, i guess. :D

You're so cute together, thanks for sharing the pix. She's beautiful!

I had way too many issues in high school to have time for boyfriends so I tried to have a no-hassle prom date with a cute guy-friend of mine, but the jacka$$ went and broke his arm and had to go for surgery the night before prom so he backed out. My best friend hooked me up with her boyfriend's best friend. He was an okay guy, but he just had a way of always ' me off. I bought the tickets, he didn't want to spend any $ on dinner so we ate at prom :yuck: , then we went back to my friends house and got seriously drunk. What a class act I was, puckin' in my prom dress and saying "please, make it go away!" :toilet:  :giggle:

That dude in the white tux is just too funny:giggle:. Yeah I went to my friend's sister's prom last night. It was boring as hell. I never realized how stupid it was untill now since I've been out of high school for two years. It's so overblown and full of girls trying to out do each other. After prom we went on a boat on Lake Michigan for 2 hours, it was 40* last night and we were on water. Great fun. My girlfriend did decide to call me half way through prom to make fun of me for going to prom which in a way was a good thing. It got me out of dancing for 15 minutes:D .

Title: The only good prom date left for me...
Post by: kingcars on May 09, 2006, 11:44:26 PM
It actually went quite well.

My date decided to go with another chick, and they were going to go out to eat with my best friend and his GF.  His GF is also a friend of mine and she pretty much told them to stuff it.  So I ended up going with my best friend, his gf, and a couple of other chicks.  Unfortunately, I didn't get to give the Tbird the washing it needed and I didn't get to take it to prom since I rode with my friend, but I did end up having a great time.  Danced with several chicks (and my best friend...dont ask hahahahahaha).  The place we had prom in this year was MUCH better than the place it was at last year; much bigger and not as stuffy.  The DJ played good dancing music too, and since neither me or my friend have any rhythm, we made complete fools of ourselves and had fun doing it.  I got home at 1am, and I started my first job at 12:30pm that same day.

(don't worry, I gave my Tbird that much needed washing this afternoon :) )

Also, you dont have to call me kingcars.  You guys can just call me Anthony.
