Put 4.10 gears in it! With all the hunting of the little pieces to fix my rear I said screw it and used the entire setup I had out of my ranger wich is not running at the moment. Well boys and girls, the 5 speed v6 cougar shiznits and gets now... Only problem is shifting all the time.

If you're gonna leave it in there for awhile, post back what your mileage figures are, I'm curious.
ET's?
Oh man, 4.10 s with a Five speed ?!?!?! You can surprise some camaros at the stoplight challenge with that. Even you can use 5th gear in the long run to acelerate faster....
125 MPH, here Claude Go !
Lol I knew you weren't just gonna fix the old pumpkin back to normal standards and just toss it back in there. Does this rear-end have trac-loc?
First goes by lightning fast doesnt it?
First? Oh you mean low range? :giggle:
I have the 4.10's in my 5.0L 5 speed Mustang It's fun sliding sideways well into 3rd. I can cruise in 3rd at about 40mph and mash the gas and look like john force.
Whats that 3.8L like with them?
I know how to make a 3.8 Cougar fast: put in a 5.0;) lol. So how much beter does the car feel with the 4.10s?
I bet it feels something like shifting a 12-speed semi gearbox...
Minus the little selector lever on the shift , and the lack of synchros
Like a tird. Its quicker, but only quick enough to get the ass to kick loose when hitting second hard. But it is a good T-loc trying to spin two 245/50's. Got a little bit of realestate back there to spin. I do have to shift the hell out of it, and I really can just take off in second. It just takes off normal. So when I am leasurly driving I will go 2 --> 4 --> 5 Don't need the other two. But man taking off from a stop light I can leave all the average cars in the dust that could have hung with me before.
