I've bought a '88 XR7 with a power moonroof. It will not go back, will go to the vent postion. Is the drive belt broken? If so does anyone know if the make replacement parts/ repair info?

when you hold the button/switch to slide it back toes the motor sound like the motor is running or does it stop like its bound up or something?

If you don't hear any noise when you press the button, the switch might be shot. When I bought my car the moonroof would only vent but I couldn't get it closed. I picked up another switch in a junkyard for $5 and it has worked great ever since.

It will go to vent and will close back. But when you try get it to go open, it just sounds as if the belt drive or something is slipping or jumping out?
