Title: few q's + junkyard finds
Post by: impulsebuykevin on April 27, 2006, 06:21:58 PM
ok heres the deal, went to the junkyard and i have a few q's about the things i saw there.

first off, there was alot of cougars and tbirds there, and they were all 5 bolt lugs. WHY@? my 91 xr7 is 4 bolt im pretty sure. only the SC's there had rear discs. there was a 1996 SC red, airbagblown and fire. 70,000kms on it, so i scooped the wiper motor, and the multifunction switch.

looking at my car, do i gotta take the plenum off to put the wiper motor in? this car had no engine.

secondly i yanked out my multi****inswitch and they dont match. mine has an extra coupler, and one of them is different. . anyone need a mf sw?

then i was checkin out under the dash, cause i had it apart.. and whats all this mess under there?

also the brake on off switch looks all loose on my car, that is the thing at the top of the brake pedal shaft yes?

... are you aware of http://www.tccoa.com and http://www.cougarnuts.com/forum/index.php ?  You have an MN12 chassis Cougar which is a whole different beast than our Fox ones.  While I'm not saying that we don't want you here, I'm just letting you know that there is going to be way more info and availiable help at those other sites.

Your '91 has five lug wheels. All MN12 chassis vehicles have a 5-on-4.25" bolt pattern. It's a different pattern than most other RWD Fords, but is the same as the Taurus, Lincoln LS, new style Thunderbird, and Jag Xj series. It's also the same as Volvo.

The multifunction switch is likely different because you got one out of an airbag car. The SC stopped production in '95, so it's not a '96 at that junk yard. If it's a '95, it's very rare - only a handful were made in '95.

I can't see your pics, but the steering wheel position sensor is part of the automatic ride control system. It firms up the shocks when you steer agressively.

Also, the 5 on 4.25 bolt pattern appeared on Lincoln Continentals.
Not sure about the GM/CV/TC, the full size "Panther" chassis cars...they may have been altogether a different lug pattern yet..

They are 5 x 4 1/2

Oh and on Cougarnuts sometimes you have to give it a couple a days or a week.
