what would cause the NOx level to be 1341? (passing would be 1046) its the lincoln that failed inspection for emmisions.
According to the state of MD, possible problems are...
I've been through this many times myself.
The best I could tell you is to just go around and clean/replace what you can. Make sure your timing is set around 10*, plugs, wires, cap and rotor all good or replaced.
Check your 02s.
Clean the IAC if needbe.
Set/adjust TPS.
Check/replace PCV valve.
Also make sure all of the emissions equipment is connected and hoses don't have any holes or cuts in them.
NOx is a byproduct of high combustion chamber temperatures, so look at the things that would cause high temps: Inoperative EGR system, too much timing, lean mixture, etc. My guess would be the EGR though - the whole point of the EGR system is to reduce NOx emissions
pull the spout out and run it back through
seriously? i might try that as a last resort, the inspection station is litteraly on the other side of the block from where my gf lives lol.
i have a couple extra egr valves i can toss on and run it through again. i'll also check the timing because the guy who had it before me may have bumped it up to 12 if it makes a difference. and when i got the car i replaced the cap rotor plugs wires pcv valve and fuel filter. hopefully i'll shake this cold and have it put through before the weekend and post up the results.
it will take the added timing out , set base to 6-8* also
you could always drill holes in the ehaust pipe over the axle. The sniffer wont fit in there so it wont pick it up. I know a mustang guy that converted to a carb that did that to pass locally.
I would first get new plugs/wires and check timing.
well im pretty lazy, and just got the lincoln re-inspected. i got the nox level down to like 98 from that 1300 by replacing the h pipe with a high flow one, and the egr valve off the cougar thats now junked. but....
NOW THE CO2 IS TOO HIGH!!! ahhhhhh... anyways its off by like .24 i think acceptable is .78 and its 1.02 or so. thats prettymuch just the air pump rite? or would that also have to do with the high flow cats i just added?
the guy at the inspection station told me to go for a collectors voucher for $25. that makes it so i basicaly dont have an inspection for 2 years but im limited to 3000 miles a year, and that works out to around 8.2 miles a day. sence its for my gf, i dont think that will fly to well sence she drives more than that.
Co is a product of heat in the exhaust system. Run the car hard before you go have it inspected this will heat the exhaust system.
