wow, am i the only one that ended up with pioneers that suck ballz. the older stuff i had luck with (they were the dark almost brown gold color ones 3 way) but the newer stuff is iffy as far as im concerned. even my buddy bought some 6x8s for his ranger and they sound a very little bit better than my stock speakers in my ranger. are the pioneers they sell at wallmart the same as they sell everywhere like bestbuy, circut city, crutchfield etc...? you can get these things for like 40 to 50 bucks on ebay so i guess you cant beat the price....ive always liked the pioneer stuff. now im looking at alpines or some other brand for speakers...

I like the Pioneer 6x9s in the back of my '86. Need a better way to mount them, though. Rattles quite a bit. (I'm just not big enough into stereos to know all the tricks.. and I'm in no hurry to climb back into that trunk and deal with 'em)

I should mention that I ran those 6X8's with bass blockers and on an amp.  So they were only used for higher stuff, thus, they didn't distort.

I have 4-ways similar to those in the 93, I also have high pass settings on my head unit and they impress everyone that has ever heard them. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

I have pioneer 6x8's 3 ways from Best Buy in my 1990 Ranger Supercab and I am very dissapointed with them. The highs are a little better than the Jbl premium sounds but they handle no lows at all. They suck! They distort at medium volume with a 6 year old Jvc cd player. I wish I would have took them back and got my $75 and slapped the Jbl's back in. This is my 3rd set of Pioneer speakers, I had a set of 4x10's that sounded decent and a set of 4x6's that sucked too. I have a 12'' Pioneer subwoofer in my Cougar and am happy with it though.

How can walmart put pioneer on the box and sell them as such unless they're genuine pioneer?  I would think that would get walmart in some serious trouble.

i know its amazing i was looking on pioneers website and the numbers on the back of the amp did not match the wal-mart's pioneer amplifier?

i would think they would to, i bought a pioneer amp from wal-mart and it burned up and i contacted pioneer and gave them the stamp code and they denied it was from there company. and the amp code was different from the real pioneer.

I've heard that Wal-Mart car audio stuff is made with cheaper components, something like that.  Kid that used to work there told me, so I dunno.  I guess part numbers or UPC's are sligthly different than they would be in a different retail box.

its not that its ripoff stuff, its just the shiznit from the bottom of the barrel

just like the bikes, i go in there, and laugh at these "ultra tough BMX bikes" from mongoose, then you go into a bike shop, and look at a 600 dollar mongoose, just because its mongoose doesnt mean itll be a good bike

i had a mongoos solution once...now i ride DH and urban/freeride...03' Santa Cruz Bullit W/ 04' Marzocchi Shiver.....not that anybody cares.

i have no doubts that wallmart sells a "lower shelf" version of the pioneer stuff. its just garabage. you can get the same stuff on ebay for very cheep money. but what about the stuff at Best Buy, Circuit City and other outlets like that. all the products look the same and many have the same part/catalog number.....?

can anybody suggest a really good all around 3 way 6x9?

I have an opinion to offer.  I Have extensive experience with car audio,  and I'll be the first to tell you that Pioneer speakers......Most of them anyways, are .  I run the following setup in my bird:
Eclipse 8volt CD deck
Focal Utopia series seperates in the front:
    X2  (1 6" woofer, 1 3"woofer, 1 1.5 inch super tweeter)
2 Boston 6" coaxials in the rear deck
2 JL audio 12W7 subs in a custom box sealed into the cabin

Amps:
1 audisson VRX 400X6
1 audisson VRX 200X4

Now if you are lookimg for a coax 3 way 6X9 for a good price, buy yourself a set of Memphis Mclass 6X9s.  Great sound, Deep bass, and excellent power handling.  Plus they are made out of better material than a lot of supposedly "Good speakers".
