So is there a good way to remove Armor All? I used some on my dash last summer (I know :brick: ) and I need to take it off to put a dash cap on. Can I just use a degreaser? I don't want to damage the dash top because I need a good surface for the cap. I just want the cap to, you know, stick to the dash :D
You used Armor All on your dashboard almost a year ago and you're wanting to remove it?
It's been my experience that it just goes away (evaporates?) after a month or two.
You need to use a degreaser....Simple Green does the job nicely. Or a chemical degreaser.
do a before and after.
couldnt you wipe it down with some alcohol?
Ooohhh, before and after, before and after!!
and I'm not talking about your cars Karl :p
I'll be doing this to my dash once I have the money to just blow on it.
You might not think this would be good but I recomned Lacqer thinner. This Works great. I covered my armrest about 4 yrs ago with cloth used thinner to clean them up. Just dampen a rag and wipe down. That will remove all traces of oil and such. Causing really good adhesion. Any way my 2 cents
Well....lacquer thinner works, but it has a tendency to melt some plastics. You'd have to be very careful using it, if you care what the dash looks like under the dash cover (for future reference).
It's still on my dash. The car spends 80% of it's time in a garage under a car cover so the sun usually dosen't have time to evaporate it.
Thanks I'll give that a shot :D .
Well I'll be doing it in about 3 weeks so I'll take pics. Dash was perfect untill I cahnged the speaker on the driver's side. Top split like a piece of glass:mad: . That's what happens when it's spent 14 of it's 18 years in California I guess.
Use a degreaser, and then rub the whole thing down with a 3M pad (scuff it up). Make sure you apply the cap in a climate controlled area, or atleast someplace where the temperature won't change drastically within 24-48 hrs. And yes, the pic below is WITH a dash cap. Or, your second option is to spray the whole thing with Rhino Lining...
Makes me want to order that dash cap right now.........
It is well worth it, my friend.
