I read on a site somewhere, I think it was pro50's, that the mark7 turbo desil(I suck at spelling sorry) rear has 3.73 gears, Can anyone confirm this? Also, by any chance is it posi? I will be going to the junk yard to check it out, but if anyone knows, lemme know

If there's a Mark VII diesel at the JY, you should try to c00ch it up! Bet the engine, tranny, wiring and k member/engine mounts would go for a ton on ebay!
As for the gears, yea I think they were 3.73.
Man I want to drop a diesel in a tbird!
ditto, i'd c00ch that up one way or another  but im a freak so...
If I ever win the lotto, I'm making a 7.3Liter Powerstroke powered T-bird. Ever since I saw a friends dad's Banks Performance Powerstroke F250, I've freaking loved that motor. It'll be a total Frankenstien car, but it'll spin the tires allllll day long.
If I ever win the lotto I wouldn't give a rat's ass about the price of gas, so there'd be no diesel 'Bird in my future :hick:
However, seeing as I likely won't ever win the lotto I'd like to do up a diesel 'Bird myself, maybe a four-eye. The BMW turbodiesel made about 130 horses/250 tq (IIRC), so it's not far off the stock SO 5.0 numbers. I'm sure a little tweaking would bring it up to at least the 155/270 SO V8 level - not a race car by any stretch, but perfectly drivable and would probably get you 35-40MPG for your efforts...
I dont wanna deal with the people at that junk yard for an engine, they charge you for bolts and nuts on trim peices. The rear sounds like it would be worth it though.
Anyone have any idea if its traction lock? I doubt it, but I may as well hope.
According to this page.... http://blizzard.he.net/~foxbody/mark.html (props to Jeeves!)
...it had 3.73 gears, and I don't believe those were available without a locking differential. So it should be a locker.
There's a turbo diesel Continental at my local yard...
The parts haven't been moving lately.
Complete TDs have been selling well though.
Hi.
Let me know if it has a good radiator.
I could use it.
its got the same radiator as a 93 cobra.
Long story short, it seems to be a shorter rear end, by about 1 inch overall, it is a 7.5, and it is a 3.73 gearing, so I am getting it, even though its a 7.5
picked it up today, here are some pics.

3.73 gears and traction lock, here I come.
You lucky !
Congratulations!
best part, disk brakes and 5-lug, and its off of a 85 mark, so it should be mustang width too.
Sorry I'm late to the party, but isn't it a 7.5"???? Not a big deal unless you are a burnout junkie.
Hope ya like it. Glad I could help.
Yeah it is a 7.5, but it will get me by when untill I finally get a new engine in it a blow it up.
It just sucks ripping ass out of a parking lot and just leaving one black mark. Even if it is only 3 feet long with two.
