Title: I so very love long weekends.
Post by: Master_xzavior on April 07, 2006, 04:55:32 AM
Ok this car's starting to get rather annoying. First off I now have a spot on my flywheel where the teeth are about gone so I get that nifty little grrrrrrrrrrzinnnngggggggggggggggclunkclunkgrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound when you turn the key.
Secondly my throttle body totally messed up, good thing I have 2 more 3.8's sitting at a buddies house complete.
Thirdly the fuel filter shot out all kinds of brown  when I pulled the line from it after not getting fuel to the throttle body.
Fourth my fuel pump is to weak to pump fuel up the line to the throttle body in quantities enough to start the car. After the car starts then it kicks on and runs but still doesnt supply enough to keep it idling. So basically after this weekend my entire fuel system will be replaced minus the lines and tank unless they tick me off too.
What makes the weekend even better is I start with changing the throttle body. A change but still no good. Then a trip to the hospital. fun fun a wonderful start. Then I called my dad to come pick me up. I had just replaced most of my fuel syetem in my parts car.
His car had the same problem the fuel pump was out. So he borrows my daughters car to come get me and bring me down. I got all the parts off minus the lines, I start heading back home which is about 90 miles away and get caught in a hail storm in the middle of kansas.
Not sure how many people from the board live in Kansas but we had some severe weather go right through the center of Kansas this evening.
The hail started picking up a little so we pull over,at this point we can tell the stuffs getting bigger, So we watch as it turns from pea size to bigger then golf ball size. It hit for about 20 minutes or so, we get the priviledge of sitting and watching the windshield spiderweb in about 25 places as well as start to sag into the car. Now me being the wuss I am on storms Im about ready to crawl in the back and pull the seat down to climb in the trunk. The first thing that came to mind was the movie the day after tomorrow when the ice starts breaking car windows and going through them and stuff. Anyway to make a long story short the storm passed about as quick as it started after coating the road in about 3 inches of ice.
We go up the road a bit and think  we gotta go tell her what the hell just happened. So we start to take a back road out of town to head back and run across an accident. We stop and I get it to look at the car. My daughters 93 taurus now looks like someone tap danced all over it in high heels as well as the plastic cover under the windshield wipers is in pieces and a parking light is gone. Luckily we stopped when we did so it didnt add to the speed of the hail.
So now Im sitting roughly 90 or so miles from my girl and her son my home and my car. On top of that I have to figure out how to help replace the windshield as well as the light and repair the body of another car. As well as get my butt back home and get the car going so I can make yet another trip down here to swap some stuff from my parts car to the brown car.
Talk about a hell of a weekend. The bad part is its only thursday.

oh yeah I almost forgot the part where I called in to tell them I wasnt going to make it and they said that thats fine enjoy the weekend but when you get back Im going to have to have a serious talk with you about you missing work. Just think I still got Friday, Saturday, and Sunday unaccounted for yet but Im sure theres going to be something screwed up in there.

Well I give you kudos, great story and well told.  I think if that were me I would prolly give it all up.  Not saying thats what you should do,  I just couldnt handle all that at one time.  I would have deffinately told my boss where to stick it.  I hope all works out for you and good luck with the fuel system change over.  lets us know how you make out this weekend.

Yeah, at least yours was easy to fix to the point it is. I replaced the whole fuel system to only, drive it 40 miles, and had to have the tank replaced and a new fuel pump installed.

Wish I had known you needed a tank before yesterday I could have made it cheaper for you. Couldn't have helped on the pump part but I HAD a tank up until yesterday. That sucks dude. I still havent gotten the stuff put in yet gonna do it tomorrow as long as it aint pouring rain. Then I can take a trip and get my A arms swapped as well as my other spring.

Mine was fixed in August of 04, its been awhile. Are you putting in tubular? How easy and $ wise was the coil over conversion?

nah no tubular yet hoping soon. and yeah coil overs still looking for an actual set of cc plates and dollar wise on the spring setup if I remember right the kit only costed like 185 with shipping not bad but I got it new off ebay so it was a little cheaper Im really happy with it so far though

Ok update the stupid things fixed there was 2 holes in the rubber line that hooks to the fuel pump itself. That stupid little 6 inch line is what was the entire problem. After careful consideration I've decided whoever designed that  needs kicked in the nads :nutkick: Why couldn't they come up with a better idea then using a rubber hose to connect that?
