Title: Intercooler question
Post by: Master_xzavior on April 05, 2006, 03:21:37 AM
Ok guys I was looking through a book for future parts plans. I was looking through superchargers and such. Ok now I know they use intercoolers on turbo's which I'm assuming helps create more hp. My question is would an intercooler work on a supercharger Im sure someone would know, if you put one on it would it actually serve the purpose and make more horsepower or would it affect the supercharger in a negative way and actually make it perform less or damage anything?

Has the same effect as it would on a turbo.  Supercoupes come stock with FMIC's I think.  It's pretty common to see a SC paired with an IC.

Look at my sig. It's basically a stock engine(aside from ud sc pulley) with intercooler from a 95 sc.

Yep intercoolers can be used with superchargers...but these days a lot of supercharger kits come with their own intercoolers or "aftercoolers."

I'm not sure if all roots/screw-style superchargers are made to hook up an external intercooler though. Some of them aren't.

massive? You havnt seen massive until you see a ford powerstroke intercooler stuffed in an 88 Daytona.

Ok cool anyone have any thoughts on the Intercooler cooling bars that spray CO2 on the intercooler? I believe they also have them that are made somewhat like a MAF sensor as well to cool the air but not sure that may have been something else. Also I believe the cooler I was looking at was the Ford Racing one. Exactly how do those hook in do they just go in the air tube between the air filter and the SC or turbo or what? That would be alot of extra tubing if that's how they hook in but if it shows a significant change it would be worth the extra tubes.

Between the turbo and intake or before the sc
