some pics of the yet to be named baby
killer, love the rims. Very clean.
thanks, hope to repaint them soon (they are quite road worn)... hopefully before catjam :)
awesome cougar! I like the color shceme- was this the coug that was on ebay about a month ago and didnt sell? if not it looks just like it.
yeah, in surfside beach, sc..... she had a $1000 reserve and it wasn't met.... we agreed on $800 and i towed it away.... QUICK!!!!
Love the tu-tone. That's cool.
Nice paint work. The wiring in the engine bay looks like it could be cleaned up a bit, but other than that, nice wheels.
nice cat. i like the wheels too... i always wanted a set.
when i took off the inside door stuff for the locks, it's two-tone paint in there too, so that's why i'm guessing it's factory..... as for the engine bay, there are sooo many freyed and broken wires, i don't know what i'm going to do.... i have one wire going to the ignition box that has lost all of its covering! anyway, i've almost been talked into doing a HO swap with a 91 or 92 mustang and just take the harness and the eec-iv with it to get it all done and over with, but i still haven't decided yet:confused:
WOW- 800 dolla- i had to pay more than that just to get my cougar shipped to me- sounds like a great deal- I remember the pics of the interior on ebay. I like the leather door panels/ sweet car
Are ya bitchin' about this..?
LMAO-I couldn't resist! :giggle:
:giggle: wife.... wire.... same difference!!!!!! most guys would probably say that 1 wife is 1 too many!!!! maybe i need to proofread!!!!
i'll post some interior pics soon.... i have the door panels off right now doing the locks and i'm replacing the speakers so it's a mess..... the carpet is in great condition(especially in the back, i don't think anyone has ever been back there), the headliner has been replaced and the dash is in good shape.... the leather in the seats is a bit cracked from wear, the visors are puke grey, the rear carpet in the window is faded and the center console lid has a wear spot on it.... but other than that and a missing v-anchor clip for the pass seatbelt, it's great..... i guess i'm just being picky... after seeing what some of you have had to do for your cats, i guess we got a steal here..... the paint is worn in many places, and the lower doors have rust holes, but it's pretty a solid kitty....
i didn't realize my rims were so badass though..... they're only 14's
p.s. that's my daily driver in the background... maybe i should pimp the cougar with some woodgrain on the sides too!!!:shoothead
and i got my side light up cougars to work by taking them out, cutting half the back off, and installing APC bright-white headlight illuminators (for taillights and headlights from advance... blah).... i mounted them inside the "tunnel" of the cathead mount so that when illuminated, they look as if the light is eminating from the cat's jaw.... not quite a glow.... but i guess it's better than being dark and at least up close they don't look like they are just lit from the center. unfortunately the pic doesn't help, but here it is
Did they work before you took them apart?
Great-looking Cougar! I, also, love the wheels and paint scheme.
I can't resist it anymore! That 4 eyed makes me want one.... Just like that, tu-tone and those rims....
And another thing, is that leather carrier hanging thing an option for those old cats? I've never seen one.
no, one of the cougars only hummed, the other did nothing.... the previous owner didn't even know they lit up....... as for the hanging leather bag in the trunk... that's where the removable sunroof goes.... the hangers show that it was a factory installed popup roof because one of the hanging brackets is built into the back of the seat
Very nice looking cat!
Lets see some more pictures! Interior and all.
funny you say that, that's the only part of the car my wife isn't fond of (and the way i'll get to keep it!!!)...... her dream car (which i will HAVE to build) is to take an 86 cougar and swap front ends with an 87..... she loves the 87 lights and the 86 back
good luck with that front end conversion. Personally I think the 83-86 headlights are better. unless you have a modded front end like karls car the flat headlights seem to boring in my mind. I do like the 87-88 grill- to bad there not interchangable
I like the 4 eyes much better, and it need be, you can get new headlights cheap
As I've said before, I'm a flush headlight guy. But that car does it for me.
To each his own, but I'm beginning to want both.
Nice looking car. Pretty unique.
Oh, and
4-EYES RULE!!!!:hick:
it looks like it may have come with the factory smoke lense covers..... in each corner there's something making it look rounded and in the centers it looks like a little metal rod pushes up... just a little weird.... i wish i could find some (cha-ching$)..... that would look sweet!!!:tetas:(headlights...haha)
What about the interior?
i'll post some of the interior on sunday.... i should have it back together by then (god i hope)
Looks real nice!
Those did not exist...aftermarket only, or Ford dealer-installed. The only cars that ever were confirmed to have headlight covers were the 1987-ish Silver Aero's. We know this because there was a recall on the cars because the headlight covers cut down on visible light transmission and broke a few laws (oops).
But it was a pretty popular thing to get the covers from the dealer and/or have them install them. I've not seen a setup like what your car has...and I've seen a ton of different styles for the 1983-86 cars. Maybe it was a homemade setup...
oh no..... i've been corrected!!!! eeeekkkk...... but anyway, i did mean to say dealer installed and not factory (oops), and being how the lady said it was a dealer demo before she got, there's no telling what was on there.... where's that time machine when you need it?
Yeah...no doubt! LOL! I've seen things that just defy explanation. This could be one of them. ;)
I have went back and looked at the pictures of your car like 10 times. I am convinced, I have to have a 83-84 4 eyed cat now. Gona paint it up like that, and convert to five lug and use gold painted (center section) lsc lincoln wheels.
*drool*
And keep the 88, gota bang those gears every once and again.
wow, it's christmas early..... here's a few interior pics (please don't mind the dirt or my steering column... i'm still playing :)).... these are just a few.... i have 7 on my cardomain page
Wow. Wish I could come across one that nice. I had a chance to buy a set of wheels like that but black for 10 bucks. The tires were shot but the rims were nice. Still dont know why I didnt get them.
Wow, nice interior, really nice.
The interior looks great. Did the car happen to come with the dancing hula doll? I like it!
:ies: no, the hula girl was compliments of our friends at wal-mart.... the wife found it in the automotive section and HAD to have it!! i figured putting it down there was the least damaging place for it :)
OMG i want it!!!
Your rear console has lights in it? That is a first for me.
yeah, i think it comes with the package with the external cat lights (eric would know :)).... anyway, the button to turn them on is on the rear of the center console by the ash tray... it might also be the fact that it's a factory sunroof (do 83 cougars have dome lights?)
ok, these are the last pics..... i promise :)
anyway, the car came with the ornament, but the loop had broken, so i drilled a hole behind the cat ornament base, it came out underneath where the loop was, i cut the spring a little and the spring clip in half, then added a loop to the top of the hanger clip from one of the halves (that's what's sticking out the back of the ornament) and... blah, blah, blah.... ok i'll shut up:yuck:
thanks for looking :)
puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrdy
here's some updated pics..... i installed a jvc cd player for the wife for mothers day (man aren't you jealous) and installed the parts i got from CougarSE.... i installed new rear and door speakers and kept the dash 3 1/2 speakers.... i had to bypass the premium sound to get the front speakers to work, but it still sounds pretty good..... i also painted my rear window carpet with the paint i used for the kick panel and seatbelt cover.... i painted the glove box for symetry......the only paint i could find that i liked was a black metalic(which looks dark grey) Krylon Fussion for Plastics.... it seems to work well, just not as flat as i'd like, but it seems to match pretty well...... the before pics you can reference are on the 2nd post of page 4....
..
I like the "High tech" battery tiedown device. lol looks awesome, how many miles does it have? Anyway let the mods/repair begin.
Dan
yeah, it actually came with the "super-collosal-titanium-forged tie-down"...... and 98,000 1 owner before me... woohoo :)
Did you figure out where that metal bracket went that i sent? I know that when I unbolted the knee panel it fell out so I took it.
it's a support bracket that is attached across from the fuse box to where the radio and a/c controls are..... that is the piece that caused my knee panel to break..... whoever was the genius that worked under there, removed it (while replacing the heater core?) and installed it UPSIDEDOWN...... no wonder i wondered why mine didn't look like all 3 screw holes would line up.... they were too far away..... it has a hump that goes around the hood latch release.... the idiot who attached mine back made it so it went above it..... it's held by 3 screws and then another 3 screws hold the knee panel to it :)
Ahh, your looks alot better than the one I sent ;)
I want your interior!! Very nice!
