Title: 3.8 SC questions.
Post by: capitlj on April 01, 2006, 09:46:20 PM
OK so i had this guy come in to napa today with  92 3.8 bird,  And i mentiong something about the Supercoupe now he want to turn his car into a super coupe he already has a full blown race car but he picked this thing up for $250 and wants to turn it into a sleeper for his wife any ideas how hard this will be?  Can i just put the S/C on top of the other motor or is a full swap easier.  Also any ideas on what kind of output to expect from a rebuild on an SC motor using forged pistons, you know beefing up the inside.  I said about 450 with the right stuff and a different blower.

I work with a guy that spends everylast dollor on his GTP. I know its not a MN12 SC but its the same idea.

Car has ported heads, headers, borla exhaust, cam, intecooler, overdrive pulley for the SC, cold air intake, reprogrammed computer, and nitrous.

He is only pushing around 350hp and 415ft.tq. without the nitrous.
450hp is going to be hard from the ford 3.8

I'm talking about a full engine and drivetrain upgrade.

I don't see why not.  Remember the 3.8L SC Tranny is sourced from Mazda, so that might be a fabrication area.  the other area needing some fabwork might be the location of the rad/IC
