im new to owning a cougar im getting an 86 cougar, with a 5.0 i want to about how much it would cost to put dual exhaust on it maybe 3" exhaust.
$17 dollars at wal*mart but if you do a search you could find out more on the real cost
Well if you do it right.
You will need mustang or equvilant headers, H pipe, a set of lers, and tail pips from a mustang which will need lengthened.
This will set you up with duel 2.5in system. 3" will be considerably more becasue most of it will need to be custom bent.
oh ok thanks i think ill just go with th 2.5" exhaust it probably save me alot on money.
used mustang shorty headers - $30 - $50
summit stang h-pipe - $100
your favorite exhaust company catback system - $200+
3" Tips - $50?
about $400 total give or take.
ill just roll up to midas or some other exhaust shop we got and ask them how much it will cost for all custom pipes ran.
Thats a novel idea...
A 3 inch exhaust is unnecessary unless you are above the 400 HP mark. What else do you plan on doing to the motor in this car besides exhaust? If you plan on keeping it stock you may be better off with 2.25" exhaust.
i plan on doing alot, heads, cam, all that good stuff you know
Dont go to MIDAS. They dont do custom work. They only do factory style overpriced bolt on . I recently went to a MIDAS with a friend to inquire about his pos honda civic wagon and they couldn't even do that because they had to special order the pipe. I noticed that there was no torch or welder even in the shop. Oh, and they wanted $475 for a singe cat-back replacement pipe and ler. He ended up going to a hole in the wall custom shop and they bent him up a cat-back system from scratch for $125 including the ler.
DO NOT GO TO MIDAS!
ok so no midas ill have to find some other exhaust shop.
Actually, there is a Meineke about 3 miles from my house that does a ton of custom work. They get a lot of business from that alone.........
same here...one of the managers even uses a bay on saturdays for "government" work. he will bend anything up.....
i had an intrepid and i took it to this shop and 2 weeks later the hanger broke and bent the pipe, my stepdad took his truck there to get a tailpipe put on and his hanger broke too. so i wont ever go to that shop
Find a hole in the wall shop. I have found that these guys do much better work because there wallets will hurt if they do py work.
I had duels put on my 88 bird. He replaced everything from the manifolds to the tail pipes, all custom bent all fully welded.
i gotta Flowmaster 2.50 inch single pipe about 3 years ago at Meineke and it came w/ a life time warranty. Its startin to rust some so in teh future i'm goina take it over and see if i can get it replaced.
i just cant wait until i get the exhaust put on.
