Hey, I got a 84 T-Bird and need help wit what would be the best engine to put in it.
There are a lot of factors to consider.
First thoughts are to swap in a 302 or a 351.
first off welcome to the board. now to the nitty gritty. i love my 84 with the stock 5.0 but most will tell you its got no balls. id say get a 5.0 HO and call it good. the 4 head light cars are the best looking. good luck with it and have fun.
jeremy
put a 350 in it. then search
Yeah My dad told me to go with a 351 Ci Cleveland if I could find one. So do you guys think that would be the engine to go with? But my brother said to put a 88 T-Bird Engine in it if i could. Its the 5.0. and the engine in it is a 3.8 V6...
Oh your power is as sucky as the rest of us V6 people. Put a big block in it:D
If you swap a 5.0 from an '88 Thunderbird, you're only getting the SO. Not a huge improvement for the work involved.
you could always get the block from an 86-88 cougar/tbird, 87 up mark7, couple years of f-150's, newer explorer's, even the 87-91 crownvics.
Then save
$2000, and get the trick flow top end. That would put you at around 300hp, being very conservative.
However, the stock 88 tbird v-8 aint that bad. I can spin the tire on my 86 till about 20mph, cant do that on my 87 3.8, not even close.
When you're only spinning one skinny little tire, it's not going to take much to lose traction ;)
But I'm Running 205/60/R15's in the rear on american racing rims and the stock in front, on same type rims
And does the 88 Super Coupe T-Bird Engine put out more power?
Do you think it would be wise to run Nitrious or could I even do that...
351 Ci Cleveland or 5.0 V8 Super Coupe
supercoupes started in 89, and were V6s.:D
205's are not wide tires.... ;)
Pick an engine and put it in the car....

our poor message board
Sorry...I'm a grumpy fvck today. I have a good reason though.......
Nah, that was a couple weeks ago...:flip:
Something I'm not going to discuss on an open forum .....
Anyway.
How about giving us more info other than "I want to make my car fast, help me decide what I should do"
Do a B18C swap! That would be tioght!
