Post by: 4mykid on March 29, 2006, 09:21:40 PM
I have a chance to pick up a set of Mustang Cobra R 17x9 4bolt wheels with 245-45-17 inch tires...will these fit in my t-bird? Its an 87 with stock rotors front and drums in the back etc. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Yes, they should fit. The bolt pattern is the same; the offset should be pretty close.

Do they rub bad or can a guy do some modifications (nicely cut it out a bit) on the plastic inside the wheel wells? or do they actually touch the fender? I can get the wheels and the tires on them for $900.00 canadian with 300km on them...they look like they have never been used. I really hope that this is not a serious issue as i want them bad!

I have 17x9's with stock front suspension and have no rubbing issues...  However I'm not sure what the offset of my wheels are so there could be a difference there.

Get them man if they are in good shape thats a good price.  Are they chrome, polished or what?

They are silver, i am not much of a chrome guy so these are exactly what i am looking for. They are in mint condition. The guy i am buying them from just put on the wheels and a set of Edelbrock rpm heads w/ a few other mods on his 91 Gt and got his 3rd DUI the day after. Needless to say he wont be driving for a long time and is getting rid of this stuff to pay lawyers etc. Feel for the guy but if you are going to be a dumbass and drink and drive....

Mine are silver too.  Sounds like its a good thing the guy got busted.  Being drunk and driving something like that are not a good combo.  I would go for it man.  Mine don't rub at all.  People flame on me sometimes because cobra wheels are so common but if you are staying 4-lug there aren't many choices out there.  Someday I want to go 5-lug and switch wheels but this was the best choice for now.

Will spacers help eliminate rubbing? But then u would have to need mustang contol arms to bring them back in.
