Since the past few years of eating at Jillian's have gotten progressively worse I've been trying to think of new venues. (I was told not to come back in unless I met dress code, sleeveless shirts aren't allowed unless you're a drunken bar-slut, apperantly I wasn't slutty enough.) Anyway, I just realized the other day that the Youngstown Sports Grille has moved to a larger location right at the end of our beloved Tiffany Blvd. I think this would be an excellent location for our Saturday night meal. It looks large enough to house all of us and friends tell me the food and service is excellent. Within the next couple weeks I'll be going there to personally check it out.
Anyone have any comments on this? I'm pretty sure we aren't going to Jillian's again, right?
Good... Jillians must be racist against fords.
But the first year I had a blast, 2nd oh.. ok. but last year horrible.
That may work, Brian...let me know how it is.
Hmm I never even knew people had a problem with Jillians. I didn't mind that place at all, but I'm always up for change.
I was at the bar most of the time. LOL.
HA, man that means I wont get to flirt with that cute waitress this year!
But I wasn't all that impressed either.... Twas fun though.
It just seemed like the staff at Jillian's really didn't have thier proverbial shiznit together. I asked about some condiments and they pointed me across the room.
Heh, I remember that one. Granted I know we were a big group, and there was a bit of self serve that may have been required, but the waiters could've earned there tips a bit better. I'm not positive, but I remember talking to eric about the fact that the place had been purchased by the people who own the Dave and Busters chain. If that is true, i'd think that there is a possibility that things could have improved since then. But either way I did enjoy the place overall, namely the gaming room, and the food wasn't that bad either. Perhaps somebody out that way could scope it out in advance and see if anything is different/better/worse now.
The only reason I ever suggested Jillian's was because it was totally family-oriented. Well, that and the food rocks. I've been there recently and I don't think things have changed since last summer. Must as I'd like to hold out hope for Jillian's again...after what people reported last year, it's probably best to go elsewhere. I certainly don't want people to think I'm forcing them to go there if they don't want to.
In trying to plan the show I keep family-oriented things at the top of the list. But, I think in this case, since this is an end-of-the-show unofficial dinner and whatnot...we don't really HAVE to have it geared solely toward the family. Everyone is free to go wherever, back to the hotel, different restaurant, what have you...no big deal. Maybe having a bar so close to the hotel would work out to be a good thing. ;)
Down the street from the hotel, there is also Outback Steakhouse, and the Springfield Grille, within walking distance. Springfield is more of a proper-dress thing.
Or we have Papa John's and Dunkin' Donuts. Woohoo!
Mmmm....donuts..... ;)
HAHAHA! I completely forgot about that event, thanks for reminding me!
And I'd like to eat at a place where I can drink and stuff my face like there's no tomorrow, and just hang out with everyone there. So yea, that could definitely be almost anywhere. 3am donut run anyone?
Zombies DIE!
Right after we get done polishing your rims, again, and again.....and again!
No, no, no. This year I have a brilliant plan. ;) I'm gonna use a pressure washer on those Welds before I leave and see if it works. Nick was right, those things are a huge PITA to clean.
With the time saved, I'm going to be camping out at Long John Silver's making sure my heart knows who's boss. It seems I can't find one anymore on the east coast...
If there isn't one out there, I know for a fact there's one here in Kent...:yuck: :macgun: :shoothead .
Long John Silvers/A&W combination in DuBois, PA.... had it last night :)
LJS is right next to K-Mart, around the corner from the hotel...no problem there. ;)
Let's go to Quaker Steak and Lube, I want to attempt the "Atomic" wings again.
I like that idea myself. It think would go rather well with the "Car Show" theme of the weekend (for obvious reasons ;) ) . Though looking at the locations I don't believe that the Boardman location could handle a group our size as it's an "express" version. However the Original Quaker Steak is only about 20 some odd miles north of where the car show is hosted. Though it would bit a little bit more driving, I personally believe that it would be worth it. I know from my experience in going there that they are a "family" orientated establishment and i'm sure they could easily handle the amount of people we would have. Also there the possibility that they would maybe enjoy/be supportive of having a mini car show in the parking lot. Granted I could be completely wrong about that part, but for some reason I recall them actually having cruise-ins there. But overall I believe that even the outta-towners might enjoy the experience more so than Jillians. I guess to sum it up, my vote would go to Quaker Steak.
Oh, and it would be funny to see Alex's, and pretty much anyone elses', reaction to the atomic wings   !!!!!
Hey, last time I was able to eat like 7 or 8 of them with the help of like 20 glasses of ice/pen 15e LOL
Oh...I know that look! After CJ04, Alex sent me an e-mail that I'd accidentally left my digital camera in his car (D'OH!). Instead of shipping it across the border, he said he'd rather deliver it in person. In return I treated him to Atomic wings at Quaker in Sharon, PA. It took everything in Alex's being to admit that for the first time in his life, he met a wing that overpowered him. Such pretty red cheeks, Alex! Warmed my hands by the glow. ;)
You know...Quaker may be a great place to go on Sunday afternoon. Not trying to dash any ideas but that's kind of a far drive from the mall. After being baked in the sun all day, and it being a long day too, I'm trying to think of someplace between the mall and the hotels to make it less stressful for everyone. A 25-minute drive, through Boardman traffic, with sunburn, and being dead tired, is asking for a lot. Well, except for Bill, because he's always up for a drive and always has that perfect tan. ;) But for everyone else, I don't know...we'd have to get some opinions on that. We could always order wings from the small Boardman express location across from the mall, pick them up while at Chili's, then go back to the hotel and eat. I don't think anyone would mind that.
I did have an idea for a restaurant that is about 7 minutes from the hotels. There are some logistical problems with it...namely, I don't think we can physically get all the cars in the parking lot. Even if we did, getting back out onto the road and back to the hotels will be a major hassle. But the food is great and we can have the party room to ourselves. I'm a good friend of the owner, so...there is potential, but also problems.
Perhaps what I'll do is get a list of all the restaurants between the mall and the hotels, and let everyone fight it out. :)
Also Eric, seems this year more people will show up. Alot more people have shown intrest.
Hows about taco bell?:hick: J/k
