Title: Rebuilt short block.
Post by: 87TBird5.0 on March 24, 2006, 09:25:04 PM
Has anyone heard about Prime Performance short blocks or seen them on Ebay?  I searched on "ford short block."  They're like $700 plus shipping and it sounds like a nice engine.  Anyone know whether this is a reputable company?  How much does rebuilding a short block usually cost?

I'm sure that $700 gets you a cast crank & hypereutectic pistons too...

Honestly if you have all the parts for the short block, I can't see why a basic re-ring job would cost more than $300-400.

Yep, my engine is complete and has about 150,000 miles on it and I'd like the rebuild to last as long as I have the car, and I don't plan on selling it.  With that many miles on all the parts, and looking to get around 300 HP out of it, do you think I should get new rods or crank?  Thanks!
