Title: can you rekey the locks?
Post by: mywifeskitty on March 20, 2006, 01:01:24 AM
i have an 83 cougar (hmmm) and my passenger light in the key hole still works, but the drivers side light is dead.... is there any way to replace the light (are they even bulbs?) or can you get another lock... if so, how do you rekey it so both sides still use my 1 key or will i be stuck with an entire keyring for my cat..

There was a post on this a while back.  Here it is:  http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=5170&highlight=illuminated+entry

so i found 2 locks with working lights off a cougar at the junkyard (lucky) but i don't want to have to use different keys for the locks and trunk (there was no lock in the trunk at the junkyard for me to take), so has anyone re-keyed an 80's lock or do i need to bite the bullet and take them to a locksmith and pay him to figure it out...... or would it be easier to re-key the trunk lock to match the new ones
