Title: Radiator petpen 15 broke
Post by: Masejoer on March 18, 2006, 12:04:14 AM
I need quick suggestions on which large chain carries the best replacement radiators for a 5.0. The  petpen 15 broke off when loosening it and I need the car functional tomorrow.

Edit:
For some reason, the drain plug itself seemed jury-rig

you can sometimes replace just the petpen 15 autozone and advance both carry replacments.

As an added note, swapping out the intake is a pita. Whats the point of that metal rod in the back connecting the lower intake to the upper with nothing in between? =/

Pep Boys, Advance Auto, and Auto Zone all carry the same products, so take your pick. I have an advance auto radiator in my red bird, and it works well.

As an alternative, in my car the petpen 15 broke off, and what I ended up doing was filling the inside of it with silicone and pinching off the end (on the outside) and threading it back into the radiator tight, since you can't really replace the drain in the factory radiator. Hasn't leaked since.

Alright, I just went with what autozone had (the only ones open until 10pm). Got it all back together with exception of the seemingly pointless metal piece holding the upper intake to the lower from the rear. Getting a code 12 now for whatever reason, although it idles the same. Still trying to figure out why the car's shifting completely different now, pretty slow shifts.

No kidding on that rod.  The first time I ever took the intake off of my car that thing gave me a fit.  Glad you got your car all back together though.
