Just had my 95 t-bird 3.8 head gaskets replaced by the local shop. almost $900.00 later no more running hot but now...........once engine warms up to normal operating temp. I get a major loss of power, irratic shifting, high rpm tapping and at a stoplight with car in drive oil pressure gage drops way down..........
What did this guy do or forget to do or are these new problems he caused or what????????????
Im about to loose my mind!
check your coolant, as stupid as it sounds, when my car is low on coolant, it shifts funny, idles weird, but i dont know about my oil pressure seeing as my gauge isnt in working order
And check the oil for coolant. If the timing cover leaks, coolant can either leak outside (good) or inside (very bad). If it gets into the front crank bearing, it will "wash" the oil out, killing the bearing within a few miles, and dilute the oil, eventually killing everything else. A not-uncommon occurance.
Good old Ford... let's have an engine block, then a gasket, then an aluminum timing cover, then a gasket, then a water pump, and have the coolant go through all those parts twice. :shakehead
rewind here,,,,,,
why were the gaskets changed in the first place?
did you have smoke out the tailpipe?
have coolant in your oil?
have a leak somewhere along the heads?
have a leak somewhere along the intake?
?
