Title: anyone else had to remove front bumper to drop in engine on 88 Cougar?
Post by: whitebeastxr7 on December 03, 2004, 04:57:03 PM
I am preparing to drop a 306 back into my 88 XR-7 by the EFI plate on the intake and am thinking that the arm of my hoist fully extended will not reach in far enough to set it in place.  I remember last November when I yanked out the other motor I had to compress the bumper a tad bit to be right on top of the plate. Has anyone else had this problem with this on our cars or do I have an "import special" engine hoist?

The other part of my project is an 89 Crown Victoria and I had to remove the bumper, filler panel and the grill to get the motor out and back in on it. I would not have imagined that I would have to do the same thing to the Cougar. Thanks!

your hoist must suck...

Had room to spare to lift my 310 in... only thing you should remove is the hood. Too bad our hoods arent like the stangs...
