I'm about ready to leave to pick up nirvanagod's Thundebird from Ohio. This is a ~ 1700 mile roundtrip, and I hope both cars will make it back without any problems. Just to make it more interesting, here's a poll to see how many of you have enough faith in the good ole' 5.0. I sure do :D :hick:

There is nothing bad to make a 1700 miles trip with a nearly 20 years old car that was heavily abused with drag racing, off roading, ice sliding, jumping, ultra rusted, and driven over a cliff...car.

*side note; i stole that car yesterday..."

Only a joke, Sir. Really, double check all the fluids (preferably, replace them if they werent changed recently) and the basics.Really, is very trusty the V8; a looong walk in the park for the good 5.0...

I second that the toolkit idea...

Heh, I just did an oil change last thursday, and I checked the rest of the fluids and such when I did that. The only thing I can think of that may need topped off is the washer fluid, and i'll prolly do that in the morning if I remember. Personally I wouldn't hesistate to drive 850 miles out over yonder, it's really only one way for my bird anyway!

I drove mine from Seattle to Dallas last year and had to put power steering fluid in at every other gas stop because of a leak. It made it over 2000 miles which included a near white out snow storm in the Siskiyou, CA pass at night (scary as hell!) and through Los Angeles rush hour traffic (4 hours stop n go @ 80 degrees). You'll do alright as long as everything is mechanically sound... belts, hoses, etc... Take tire chains at this time of year.

Man hope all is well, but if you break down just go to the local kinkos and post on the board, maybe someone will be near by and can help?

Well as of 12:00pm est, i'm officially (though hopefully temporarily) out of the Fox body club! Stephan (siscrew) should now be on his way back home to Missouri, and i'm sitting here reminiscing about my former girl! I'm really glad that it went to someone who knows and respects these cars and who will have a better chance of bringing it back to it's former glory. I think i'm gonna go cry in the shower for a while now!

It's 2:38 AM and I've arrived back home. The T-bird performed wonderfully, except when she refused to start once at a gas station. Personality quirk, I would say, hehe. I'm bushed, so I'm just gonna go to bed. All those who had faith in the 5.0, well, you were justified. It ran like a charm.
